Junior Specialty Foods Buyer

Euro USA, Inc., an importer and distributor of specialty foods and seafood located in Cleveland, Ohio, is searching for a Junior Specialty Foods Buyer. The person in this role will be responsible for the procurement and timely delivery of products for assigned products.

The ideal candidate must be organized and highly productive in a fast-paced environment. Must be a strong communicator, attentive to details, diligent, able to meet deadlines and establish priorities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain a proactive procurement strategy, ensuring effective inventory control and keeping shelf life of product in mind.
• Manage inventory levels at two different locations (Cleveland, OH and Chicago, IL).
• Coordinate with vendors PO deliveries timely and cost-effectively based on vendor lead times.
• Confirm purchase order pricing.
• Communicate effectively with vendors to resolve shipment and/or quality issues.
• Maintain key relationships internally with the sales and warehouse teams.
• Assist with identifying new product opportunities.
• Process sample requests for the sales team.
• Help prepare for food shows – may require travel a few times throughout the year.

• Experience purchasing for the food service and/or retail food industry.
• Ability to negotiate with vendors with an understanding of current market trends.
• Intermediate level skills using Microsoft Office applications – Word, Excel, Outlook
• Working knowledge of computer inventory systems.
• Good communication skills – both oral and written 
• Must be comfortable making phone calls and have a pleasant and professional phone manner.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with co-workers and others
• A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail is required.
• Ability to multi-task and complete work assignments accurately and in a timely manner.
• Self-driven, results oriented, organized individual with a positive outlook and a clear focus on quality.

Required Education/Experience

• Bachelor's degree in related field is preferred
• Relevant experience will be considered in lieu of degree

This is a full-time onsite position – Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
