Salary range: $50,000 to $60,000 DOE
Job Summary:
The K–12 Education Manager reports to the Director of Lifelong Learning and is responsible for the design, project management, implementation, and evaluation of all Museum education programming and services for children and adults, both in-house, virtually and through outreach. This position delivers on the Museum’s mission and ensures that all offerings align with local curriculum standards, inclusive learning practices, and also highlight and promote the Museum’s Collection. The Manager builds strategic partnerships, supervises up to 3 education team members, oversees budgets and the application of grant funds, and ensures high-quality engagement through field trips, camps, virtual instruction, and outreach. The successful candidate will continue to develop, deliver and grow the museum’s educational offering in all aspects of, social science, science & engineering and arts & design.
Essential Job Functions:
Education Programs and Initiatives
· Plan, coordinate, implement, and evaluate all in-house and outreach K–12 education programs.
· Develop and deliver curriculum-aligned presentations inspired by the Museum Collection.
· Facilitate virtual, in-person, and hybrid models of instruction for K–12 audiences.
· Evaluate program effectiveness and community needs; apply feedback for continuous improvement.
· Provide guidance on the development and design of museum educational content and resources.
· Collaborate with internal teams to ensure accessible, inclusive, and high-quality educational experiences for children and families.
· Research and apply current trends in interpretive techniques and museum education theory.
· Monitors program effectiveness: solicits feedback through evaluation forms and other means, and seeks timely information on community and constituent needs, applying feedback for the constant improvement of programs.
Supervisory and Departmental Leadership
· Supervise, train, and support education staff, interns, and volunteers.
· Monitor assigned project and grant budgets and ensure fiscal accountability.
· Assist with departmental planning aligned with the Museum’s mission, vision, and strategic goals.
· Coordinate with Marketing/PR on promotion of education-related initiatives.
· Coordinate with Collections & Exhibitions to highlight the stories of Las Vegas.
· Prepare reports for Development and other internal or external stakeholders.
Partnership and Resource Development
· Represent the Museum in local, regional, and professional education communities.
· Cultivate and maintain strategic partnerships with educators, school districts, and community organizations.
· Collaborate with Development staff to assist with grant proposals and deliverables.
· Perform additional duties as assigned in support of the Museum’s goals.
Requirements
Qualifications & Skills
· Master’s degree in education, museum studies, history, art education, or related field preferred; equivalent experience with bachelor’s degree required.
· 3+ years of experience developing and delivering informal education programs, ideally in a museum or attraction.
· Strong knowledge of curriculum standards and museum learning strategies.
· Demonstrated ability to develop inclusive, standards-aligned educational materials.
· Public speaking, facilitation, and presentation expertise.
· Understanding of DEI principles and ability to uphold inclusive program practices.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office; familiarity with virtual learning platforms preferred.
· Interest in history, art, Las Vegas culture, preservation, or neon signs.
· Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
· Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle required.
