Job Description - Kids Club Coordinator

Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Kids Club Coordinator to join our team. The successful candidate is one who displays a passion for ministering to students. The candidate must be a professing and maturing Christian enthusiastically supporting Valley Christian's statement of faith and mission statements.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Display a deep knowledge of subject/grade and assist with teaching from a Biblical perspective
  • Demonstrate a passion for ministering to students through encouragement and example
  • Create and develop afterschool programs/ clubs for the K-8 campus
  • Grow and maintain attendance in afterschool programs/clubs
  • Create connections, find sponsors for clubs with current staff or outside sponsorship to support a program or club
  • Create digital and print marketing and promotional materials as needed
  • Coordinate engaging activities to occupy student’s time 
  • Plan and execute crafts, games, and activity centers for attendees
  • Hire and maintain staff for after school programs
  • Maintain activity announcements 
  • Organize and assist with sign ups for the afterschool programs and clubs
  • Manage the maintenance and inventory of afterschool and club supplies and equipment
  • Responsible for all financial matters; manage accounts, budget, receipts, and expenditures
  • Work with your supervisor for all requisitions for expenditures for the after school program and clubs
  • Participate in scheduled meetings with Head of School, Principal, Vice Principal and appointed committees concerning student activities
  • Facilitate staff scheduling to ensure proper coverage of student supervision
  • Trains, supervises, counsels, schedules and evaluates performance of assigned staff
  • Exercise open and respectful communication with fellow aides, supervisors, and other school staff
  • Assist with check-in and check-out processes for after school attendees 
  • Maintain professional communication with fellow VCS staff, students, and parents
  • Assist in managing student behavior in accordance with outlined guidelines
  • Ability to communicate with parents when students misbehave during Kids Club
  • Step in as needed to supervise students
  • Supervise students on the playground and maintain a visual on all students
  • Implement playground rules
  • Help students with homework when needed
  • Assist with set up and breakdown of crafts, games, and centers
  • Wipe down tables and counters
  • Secure doors and play areas

Requirements

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ that is a consistent testimony among others
  • Agree to uphold Valley Christian’s Mission & Beliefs which can be found at http://valleychristianaz.org/about/philosophy/
  • Agree to uphold Valley Christian’s Statement of Faith
  • Faithfully attend and financially support a local church whose beliefs are in agreement with our school’s Mission & Beliefs
  • Adheres to and honors Valley Christians standards, policies, procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook
  • Must have and maintain a valid level one IVP fingerprint card  
  • Current CPR and First Aide certifications preferred 
  • Be flexible to stay late if a parent arrives late
  • Utilize the summer to prepare, plan, and execute the following school years afterschool programming
  • Able to use Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel to create spreadsheets for tracking student attendance
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally
  • Ability to exercise initiative and sound judgment and to react with discretion under varying conditions

  • Ability to multi-task with organization
  • Ability to resolve problems, follow through, and manage multiple priorities to ensure that goals are met

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent

Preferred Skills and Knowledge:

  • Prior Education experience 
  • BS/BA degree or equivalent skill/experience in related field
  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent 
  • Project management skills 

Physical Requirements:

  • Use a computer (visual and keyboarding) for long periods of time
  • Able to remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing) 50% of the time 
  • Occasionally lift up to 25 pounds 
  • At times requires stooping, bending, turning, pushing, pulling, reaching and climbing stairs (2-story) 
  • Use of hands, fingers, arms to reach, grip and maneuver objects
  • Must be able to respond quickly to sounds (fire/security alarms)
  • Work in noisy and crowded school environment 
  • Able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and evenings when needed
  • Frequent walking throughout the campus
  • Work around small children including sitting, standing, running and climbing stairs
  • Must be able to lift and carry small children up to 40 pounds in case of emergency
