Pay Range: $17.97/hour-$19.63/hour

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Leads planning and implementation of daily program activities and curriculum for our Kids Corner at our Glens Falls Branch YMCA location. Creates a safe and positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals and promotes safety in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Hire, onboard, train, and evaluate Kids Corner staff. Maintain staff schedules and ensure proper training on policies and procedures.
• Manage Kids Corner schedule, staffing, client billing, and routine communication. Ensure a safe, healthy, and hygienic environment for children and staff.
• Promote a constructive team-teaching atmosphere. Meet regularly with staff to plan, delegate responsibilities, and address concerns.
• Establish positive communication with parents, explain policies, and handle check-in/check-out procedures.
• Offer training opportunities for staff on Early Childhood Development and related topics. Participate in professional growth activities.
• Handle billing, care reservations, and file updates. Inform Front Desk staff of schedule changes and billing issues.
• Maintain program equipment and supplies. Share housekeeping responsibilities and assist in public relations events.
• Maintain First Aid/CPR, FDR, and AED certification. Ensure knowledge of program policies, confidentiality, and safety rules.
• Maintain a professional demeanor and dress code at all times.
• Work 27+ hours in programming with up to 10 hours of administrative duties per week.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum age of 18 years old.
• Associate’s Degree in Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Physical Education, Recreation or a related field, or a NYS Children’s Program Administrator Credential, or School Age Child Care Credential, or two years of college with 18 credits in Child Development, Elementary Education, Physical Education, Recreation or a related field. 
• Minimum of 2 years’ direct experience working with children less than 13 years of age, including at least one year in a supervisory capacity in a child care program or related field.
• Maintain and understand ratios.
• Employee must work the required 12-month calendar year (including summers).
• Current CPR & First Aid certifications preferred
