POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Kids Ministry Coordinator leads childhood discipleship and family ministry at the campus level by helping create a space where kids feel known, safe, and excited to learn who Jesus is in a way that sticks. This role focuses on relational volunteer leader development, behind-the-scenes administrative organization, and equipping parents to act as the primary disciplers of their children throughout the week.

Through Sunday leadership and intentional volunteer care, this role ensures weekends run smoothly, leaders feel supported and developed, and families are warmly welcomed into a thriving, mission-aligned discipleship pathway.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Reproduce Culture – Embrace and replicate Crossroads’ culture within all kids ministry environments. Hold self and volunteers accountable with attitudes and interactions that reflect our core values.


2. Cultivate Volunteer Leadership – Recruit, onboard, and schedule volunteers using Crossroads systems and processes. Build relationships with your team by meeting regularly to encourage, support, and celebrate them regularly.  Help volunteers feel confident by equipping them with clear expectations and best practices.  Ensure each classroom is fully staffed and set up for success each weekend, and step in to problem-solve when last-minute needs or gaps arise.


3. Kids Connection & Caregiver Engagement – Be a warm, relational presence for families, especially those who are new, helping them feel comfortable, confident, and cared for from their first visit on.  Communicate clearly about what kids are learning, execute relational first-time family follow-up, and manage ongoing engagement. Communicate upcoming events and invite the next step opportunities.  Support kids and parents or caregivers in taking meaningful next steps in their faith journey, helping grow the ministry by building trust, strengthening relationships, and inviting others into serving.  Partner intentionally with parents to equip them as the primary spiritual leaders of their children


4. Execute initiatives and Events –. Partner with the Family Director to plan and execute campus-specific events (child dedications, seasonal events, parent gatherings, volunteer appreciation, etc.). Help bring these moments to life through strong organization, communication, and volunteer coordination to reflect our heart and mission.


5. Collaboration & Alignment –Work closely with your Campus Team to stay connected to the life of your campus.  Partner with the Family Ministry Director for support, feedback, and ongoing development.  Maintain strict alignment with Crossroads Kids systems, curriculum, safety standards, and volunteer processes, participating in regular check-ins and team rhythms to stay connected and supported. 

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

• Strong leadership development, volunteer management, and team-building capabilities, including a passion for equipping adult and youth volunteers.


• High emotional intelligence and a deep understanding of childhood spiritual development and family discipleship practices.


• Excellent organizational skills, database management, and project tracking.


• Strong communication skills, with the ability to cast vision clearly to groups of parents, volunteers, and kids


• Technology proficient (e.g., church database systems, check-in kiosks, communication platforms, and collaboration tools).

DUTIES

• Help create a welcoming, fun, and safe environment where kids love to be.


• Lead the setup and tear-down of  spaces so everything is ready to go before services begin.


• Ensure classrooms are clean, stocked, and prepared for both kids and volunteers.


• Execute the programming and curriculum in a way that feels smooth and engaging.


• Be the go-to person on Sundays for volunteers, kids, and parents or caregivers of kids.


• Maintain safety, check-in/ check-out procedures with consistency and care.


• Follow established guidelines around childcare guidelines, background checks, required trainings, allergies, behavior, health, and incident reporting to create a safe environment for every child.


• Attend staff meetings, retreats, and conferences as delegated.


• Provide appropriate care, support, and resource tools to parents and leaders throughout the week.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in ministry, early childhood education, leadership or a related field.


2. Experience: Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage multiple priorities, navigate technology/audio tools, and understand the childhood discipleship process. Proven success in leading technical or relational volunteer environments and executing large-scale family ministry events. 


3. Gifting: Aptitude for administration, shepherding, and teaching.

• Thriving Volunteer Culture: Volunteers are systematically recruited, scheduled, and onboarded. Team members feel personally known, celebrated, and confident in their roles due to clear communication and robust mid-week support.


• Equipped & Connected Families: New families feel instantly welcomed and secure. Parents feel fully resourced with clear communication regarding weekly lessons, upcoming events, and practical strategies to act as the primary disciplers at home.


• Collaborative & Unified Posture: Campus events—like child dedications and seasonal gatherings—are executed with organizational excellence in lockstep with the Family Ministry Director, consistently reflecting the ministry's core standards.

WORK SCHEDULE

• Full-time, requiring regular weekend and evening availability for services, volunteer trainings, and special ministry events.


• Office hours will be consistent and mutually coordinated with the Family Ministry Director.
