Kids-A-Part Community Case Manager Newport

Job Description - Kids-A-Part Community Case Manager Newport

At the heart of the Kids-A-Part Parenting Program is a simple but powerful belief: children deserve stability, connection, and support. We seek a Community Case Manager who will play a key role in making this belief a reality.

This role works directly with children of incarcerated parents and their caregivers, helping families find the resources they need to thrive. The Community Case Manager coordinates and facilitates parent-child visits—sometimes one-on-one, sometimes virtually, and in groups—creating moments of connection that matter deeply for both children and their parents. Inside the Northern State Correctional facility, this role leads engaging programs such as Storybook, Parent Education, and Dad’s Mail, all designed to strengthen parenting skills and nurture relationships.

This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position based in the community and within the Northern State Correctional Facility in Newport, Vermont. This position requires some alternative shifts to support family connections. The starting hourly rate for this position is $25/hr. For the full job description, click here

Research shows that individuals from marginalized groups—such as BIPOC, LGBTQ+, women, people with disabilities, and those from working-class backgrounds—often hesitate to apply for jobs unless they can see themselves meeting and performing every responsibility and requirement. However, many skills can be learned on the job. If you can see yourself adding value to the role, our clients, staff, and guests and meeting most of the responsibilities and qualifications, we encourage you to apply!

What You Will Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology child development, human services or a related field or a combination of relevant work experience required.
  • Awareness on the impact of domestic violence and other adverse childhood experiences preferred.
  • Experience with parenting individuals and children is preferred.
  • Experience working with families, in multidisciplinary teams, and knowledge of community resources preferred.
  • Awareness of the impact of the criminal justice system on children and families.
  • Knowledge of substance abuse issues and relapse prevention.
  • Familiarity with regulations, laws and procedures of the Vermont Agency of Human Services.
  • Ability to maintain a valid VT Driver’s License and access to reliable transportation is required; occasional statewide travel may be required.
The successful completion of a background and driving checks is a condition of employment.
