Pay Range: $17.97/hour-$19.63/hour

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Leads planning and implementation of daily program activities and curriculum for KidzCare at our Wilton YMCA Branch. Creates a safe and positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals and promotes safety in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Site leader is responsible for hiring, onboarding, and training Kidzcare Staff. 
  • Site leader is responsible for KidzCare schedule, staffing, staff training, client billing, and routine education and communication with staff.
  • Ensure a safe and healthy environment for all children.
  • Promote an effective, constructive team-teaching atmosphere focusing on meeting the children’s needs according to the philosophy of the program.
  • Ensure proper hygiene of the children and staff in the program.
  • Meet regularly with staff  to plan, discuss, and delegate responsibilities of the program and discuss particular concerns of the program.
  • Ensure proper training of and communication with staff. 
  • Implement methods for establishing a positive liaison with parents with open communication.
  • Explain policies of KidzCare to new parents. 
  • Hire, onboard, and train KidzCare staff; maintain staff schedule; evaluate staff performance; and maintain staff.
  • Plan and implement methods  for effectively utilizing and supervising the services of the KidzCare.
  • Offer staff the opportunity to expand their knowledge of Early Childhood Development and related topics with trainings. Train staff on policies and procedures of  the program.
  • Maintain proper care and inventory of all related program equipment and supplies.
  • Assume an equal share of joint housekeeping responsibilities with the staff.
  • Assist in public relation events.
  • Participate actively in all functions relating to the program, join regular staff meetings, child/parent events, etc.
  • Participate in training programs, conferences, courses and other aspects of professional growth as required.
  • Be knowledgeable about program policies and requirements, philosophy, confidentiality and safety rules.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Maintain First Aid/CPR, FDR and AED certification.
  • Be professional at all times in manner and dress.
  • Ensure proper and safe check-in and check-out procedures and develop new standards and procedures  when issues arise.
  • Will work 27+ hours in programming, and have no more than 10 hours of administrative duties per week.
  • Responsible to charge hourly billing, schedule care reservations, and update files monthly or as needed. 
  • Inform Front Desk staff of necessary information due schedule changes, closures, billing issues.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum age of 18 years old.
  • Associate’s Degree in Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Physical Education, Recreation or a related field, or a NYS Children’s Program Administrator Credential, or School Age Child Care Credential, or two years of college with 18 credits in Child Development, Elementary Education, Physical Education, Recreation or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ direct experience working with children less than 13 years of age, including at least one year in a supervisory capacity in a child care program or related field.
  • Maintain and understand ratios.
  • Employee must work the required 12-month calendar year (including summers).
  • Current CPR & First Aid certifications preferred.
