Description
Brain Injury Services (BIS) helps children and adults with a brain injury build the skills and confidence they need to lead a fulfilling and productive life.
Under the general supervision of the Senior Manager of Day Programs, the Kitchen Activity Coordinator (official title Unit Coordinator) is a full-time position responsible for the development and implementation of a day program for persons with brain injuries based on the Clubhouse model. The Unit Coordinator ensures that all unit activities align with participants' individual goals and the organizational mission. The ideal candidate should understand how groups work and grow, be able to bring people together to build a sense of community, support teamwork and learning among groups, and lead in a way that encourages participation and collaboration.
In accordance with the purpose and mission of Brain Injury Services as well as the International Brain Injury Clubhouse Association standards, the Unit Coordinator shall:

Requirements
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in special education, rehabilitation counseling, library science, social work or a closely related field is preferred. Relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. A minimum of one year of experience providing community-based services to persons with disabilities, preferably those with brain injuries. We are looking for a candidate who is familiar with the Clubhouse model and its principles, including fostering a supportive community, promoting member participation, and encouraging meaningful engagement in daily activities, employment, and social opportunities. Preference will be given to those applicants with experience in a Clubhouse program and with knowledge of person-centered practices.

Note this position will focus on the kitchen unit. Culinary experience preferred.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:00am to 4:00pm unless otherwise arranged by Clubhouse Manager. Majority of services are provided in-person and on-site presence is required. Some virtual programming may be specified by the Senior Manager of Day Programs, which may allow limited work-from-home opportunities. Additional evenings and weekend hours may be required.
