Kitchen Assistant

The Kitchen Assistant supports the kitchen team in maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient food service environment. This position ensures that kitchen operations run smoothly and that staff and children are provided with nutritious meals in a timely manner.

• Assist with food preparation under the direction of the Kitchen Manager.
• Assist in the delivery of prepared meals and snacks to classrooms, maintaining accurate time documentation as required by USDA Food Program requirements.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen areas, including equipment, counters, and storage areas.
• Assist with dishwashing and proper storage of dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment.
• Assist with food deliveries, including receiving, unpacking, and storing items appropriately.
• Monitor food supplies and inform supervisor of low stock or needed items.
• Assist in laundry area as needed (e.g., washing aprons, towels, linens).
• Ensure waste is disposed of properly and recycling protocols are followed.
• Support compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Kitchen Manager or supervisor.

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Kitchen experience preferred.

Safe Serve Certification preferred.

USDA Food Program certification (or ability to obtain) as required for childcare programs.

Ability to follow directions and work as part of a team.

Physical ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 30 lbs, and perform repetitive tasks.
