Etai’s Food is a local, family-owned company with a food production plant that prepares ready-to-eat products and catering. We are seeking a Kitchen Manager.

The Kitchen Manager has total responsibility for the production kitchen and staff. This role directs food preparation, production and control and ensure that the kitchen provides fresh, appealing, properly flavored foods while focusing on food costs.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Responsible for maintaining quality of food product and ensuring consistency in food delivery and regulatory, quality standards.
  • Responsible for the selection, training, and development of the personnel within the department; planning, assigning, and directing work: appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees and safety.
  • Actively work alongside employees on the hotline in both a technical and managerial aspect
  • Managing daily activities of the kitchen, such as line checks, order checks, taste checks
  • Continuously monitor food standards, workflow and activities, and quality of product
  • Ensures appropriate sanitation and safety standards and requirements are met.
  • Assist in monitoring the overall quality and consistency of products in all production and packaging areas ensuring recipes and specs are maintained and followed.

  • High school diploma or GED
  • A minimum of 2 years supervisory experience in a food service kitchen. Experience in fresh prepared foods and large volume food service production, for example catering, hospitals, institutional cafeterias, food production plants.
  • Candidates must be able to prepare large quantities of foods following our quality and preparation standards, such as 300 lbs. of chicken, prepare 25 cans of tuna into tuna salad or prepare 5 gallons of ranch dressing.
  • Hands on management style, this position is expected to work alongside employees in the production line while also overseeing the department.
  • Must have strong people skills with the ability to train and develop employees.
  • Must be a self-directed, results oriented manager who can work independently.
  • Maintain regular, consistent attendance & punctuality. Must have a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to work under pressure, establish priorities and multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to problem solve and come up with solutions to ensure product and production issues are handled to ensure the customer’s needs are met.
  • Must be able to physically perform work in a variety of temperature environments, standing, walking, and lifting to 50 lbs.
  • Spoken and written English proficiency. Ability to communicate with Spanish speaking staff strongly preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Able to work in various positions, including, but not limited to, stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling, and squatting for extended periods of time.
  • Exposure to food allergens.
  • Ability to work in cold environment (40 degrees)
  • Lifting to 50 pounds frequently. All Lifts over 50 Pounds require assisted lifting
