The Story of JBaby's Preschool
Stephanie Joyner came up with the name of her preschool thanks to her dad who once owned a store called Baby J's.
Having worked at a doctor's office for 15 years - since she was a teenager - Stephanie, who was a single mom, decided to go back to school and earn her degree and plan for a more rewarding future. She earned her Director Certification from the Department of Children and Families, and stays current by attending regular continuing education courses. These days she loves her job and believes this move was one of the best decisions of her life.
Stephanie Joyner has been certified in the following:
- Child Care Facility Rules & Regulations
- Identifying and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect
- Child Growth and Development
- Behavioral Observation and Screening
- Understanding Developmentally Appropriate Practices
- Infant and Toddler Appropriate Practices
- Special Needs Appropriate Practices
- Family Child Care Home Rules & Regulations
- Early Literacy for Children Age Birth through Three
JBaby's started in her home as a daycare and Stephanie found that the children were eager to learn and she wanted to help them more than just keeping them occupied until their parents came to pick them up. She also found a community of families in need of a secure, healthy, and nurturing environment for their kids. Soon, the daycare became a preschool.
"My first JBabies are now entering elementary school and I am thrilled to hear reports of their success and advanced skills in the classroom due to our courses and education."
Stephanie believes that everything is a teaching opportunity - including leading a healthy lifestyle. The breakfast, lunch, and snacks they serve help the kids learn about healthy eating and nutrition. The food is prepared at the center and follows the child nutrition guidelines of the USDA.
The staff and class leaders at House of JBaby's Preschool adhere to the guidelines and mission of the school. This mission includes teaching children to be independent at a young age, providing structure and consistency to their days, encouraging educational, emotional, and physical growth - but most importantly - to do all this while making it fun for the kids.
"We teach children vital life skills too like manners, treating others with kindness, table etiquette, and more, to give them the basic tools for success outside of education."
Stephanie says that this wonderful experience has graced her with abundant patience and love for the kids in her care. Her professional success also means taking the time to evaluate, improve, or expand the offerings at JBaby's. Her next major project will be revamping and updating the playground.
The preschool's spirit weeks are hugely popular and the monthly themes like Under the Sea, Dinosaurs, and more keep the children engaged and entertained. When a child joins JBaby's, their family does too. The relationship between the school and the family is a partnership to ensure that the children have a consistent environment in which to thrive, 24-hours a day. In fact, Stephanie sits down with the family prior to having a child enrolled so that they know what to expect and how they can participate in their child's growth and education.
Our Mission
Our success is measured by stories from JBaby families about how their children have excelled with the help of our facility. It is measured by the smiles when leaving and the smiles when entering our establishment.
