GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:

To perform washing, general cleaning, and storage functions of the Food and Nutrition Service department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintains utmost level of confidentiality at all times.

• Adheres to hospital policies and procedures.

• Demonstrates business practices and personal actions that are ethical and adhere to corporate compliance and integrity guidelines.

• Responsible for starting the dish machine, filling all tanks, and ensuring proper operations of the equipment.

• Responsible for cleaning of dish machine as assigned (i.e. de-liming of hard water).

• Must follow proper procedures for washing of dishes in machine or in the three-compartment sink (i.e. using correct scraping procedures, cleaning solutions, and proper racks.

• Handles equipment (dishes, pots/pans, etc.) with caution to prevent damage and breakage.

• Returns all clean dishes to proper location after cleaning.

• Responsible for cleaning all floors and heavy equipment used in the department.

• Assists Warehouseman with storage and stocking of food and supplies as needed.

• Assures that all trash in department is collected and taken to proper location.

• Attends all department and hospital in-services as required.

• Performs special cleaning and other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
