SUMMARY: Facilitates the daily food services and delivery for Go Kids Inc. and its contracts with other agencies (If applicable) by applying health, safety, and professional standards for receiving, preparing (If applicable), serving, storing, and delivering food. Responsible for the maintenance, cleanliness, and sanitation of the kitchen(s) as well as all paperwork required by the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), USDA, and Go Kids, Inc. Has a strong curiosity about cost-efficient seasonal nutrient-dense foods, and how to purchase and receive them, and how to transform ingredients into tasty meals (If food is prepared in-house). Understands how to control inventory and food cost through proper portioning and ordering.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, as well as other duties and responsibilities that may be assigned.

· Manage daily kitchen operations for the CACFP program, lead staff to ensure high-quality service is delivered, and enforce food production/handling safety guidelines while meeting hygiene, inventory, and efficiency standards.

· Responsible for the training, scheduling, task assignment, performance monitoring, and guidance for kitchen staff.

· Oversees the production of all whole seasonal nutrient-dense foods for children’s breakfast, snacks, and lunch in cooperation with the Nutrition Consultant, Cooks, Food Delivery Reps, and other team members (If food is prepared in-house).

· Place food orders, with approved vendors, following budgetary guidelines. Purchase or direct the cooks/Delivery reps to purchase special food items for children with food allergies. Order, maintain stock, and perform monthly inventory of baby food items.

· Manages the preparation/ordering of food in appropriate quantities according to the number of children and adults to be served at each site.

· Maintain the standard recipe file, updating recipes with all changes noted by the chef or cooks (If food is prepared in-house).

· Oversees and coordinates the transfer of all food products from the Kitchen to all sites.

· Maintains tight controls of all food inventories at the commissary at our Go Kids Inc. center’s kitchen, which includes maintaining par levels for all stable products and ordering these products as necessary.

· Track and post children’s allergies and post these in the kitchen. Prepared special meal tags weekly (If applicable)

· Prepare the weekly pack-out binders that include the Daily Packing List and Menus prepared by the Food Delivery Reps.

· Conduct monthly inspections of the kitchen(s) and provide suggestions for program improvement.

· Responsible for the proper portioning of food to maintain food cost at an acceptable level.

· Responsible for the record-keeping of the CACFP paperwork needed to support and submit the monthly claims.

· Responsible for reviewing the monthly claims and posting the food program journal entries into the accounting software.

· Poses leadership skills, time management, and the ability to remain calm and decisive under intense pressure and establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.

· Use equipment and materials safely and acceptably.

· Enforce all health and safety guidelines according to USDA regulations and health codes.

· Identify workplace hazards and/or unsafe conditions and take appropriate action to correct.

· Maintain accurate records of food invoices, expense receipts, menus, and packing slips, and file a copy of the corresponding documents required by the CACFP program while working collaboratively with the CACFP team. This information must be stored at the admin office.

· Sign off on expense reports for team members and drop them off at accounts payable weekly.

· Possess Excel/spreadsheet and computer skills.

· Act as a back-up to the Food Delivery Reps if a team member is out and/or cannot make deliveries.

· Follow and maintain Go Kids, Inc. policies and procedures.

· Attend meetings and trainings as requested.

· Work as a member of the Go Kids, Inc. team by promoting the mission, vision, and values of the agency.

· Conduct self in a manner that reflects credit on Go Kids, Inc. and encourages others to do the same.

· Other duties as assigned by the Accounting/Payroll Director.


Requirements

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

· Requires general knowledge of food services and the California & Adult Child Care Food Program and USDA Standards

· Must be organized, creative, independent, and self-motivated, enthusiastic, dependable, detail-oriented, flexible in scheduling and prioritization, and driven by excellence.

· Must possess exceptional communication skills to present facts and recommendations effectively in oral and written form, including accurate grammar and business correspondence knowledge.

· Interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective relationships; demonstrated ability to communicate in situations requiring tact and poise; skilled in confidentiality and discretion.

· Must present a neat, professional appearance.

· Must be able to adjust tasks and focus with composure, and in accordance with changing deadlines and priorities.

· Requires a good sense of humor and belief in working as a professional, cohesive team member.

· Conducts self in a manner that reflects credit on Go Kids, Inc. and encourages others to do the same.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

· Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. An associate degree in culinary arts or hospitality management is preferred.

· 2+ years of Supervisory experience.

· Understanding of the CACFP program guidelines, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) regulation and food buying guidelines is a plus, and how to implement them into a large food service organization.

· Inventory control, ordering, and warehouse management are a plus.

· Serve Safe Certified or must attend training and pass test within 60 days of employment.

· Must have a clean DMV record.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

· Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures with conformance to the prescribed style and format. Ability

to effectively present information and respond to questions from government entities, employees, managers, clients, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

· Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to calculate figures & amounts with a 10 Key.

REASONING ABILITY:

· Ability to define and solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables, occasionally in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

· Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, sit, stand, reach with hands and arms, and walk. Occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch; lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

· Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in outdoor weather conditions and wet (humid) conditions and is occasionally exposed to the risk of electrical shock. Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and can sometimes be noisy.

· Slip Resistant Shoes and proper uniform to support safety—an annual stipend will be provided to the employee to purchase the proper footwear, upon prior approval of the required shoes. Chef coats and aprons will be provided and must be worn during all food preparation (If food is prepared in-house).
