Job Description - Lab IT Technical Support Specialist

The Lab IT Technical Support Specialist is responsible for providing advanced technical support across laboratory and office technology environments, ensuring reliable operation of laboratory devices, connectivity infrastructure, and end user systems within the Reference Lab ecosystem.

This role supports installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of laboratory IT infrastructure, including connected instruments, workstation environments, network devices, and virtual desktop solutions. The position also provides foundational support for Laboratory Information System connectivity and works closely with local and offshore teams to maintain operational continuity.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Support and Infrastructure

  • Provide advanced technical support for laboratory and office IT environments.
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot hardware, software, and connectivity issues across laboratory systems.
  • Support infrastructure components including USB, serial connections, Ethernet TCP/IP, internet connectivity, and related devices.
  • Maintain reliable operation of wired and wireless network environments across laboratory and office locations.

Laboratory Ecosystem Support

  • Support laboratory devices and associated infrastructure in small, medium, and large laboratory environments.
  • Troubleshoot connectivity issues affecting laboratory instruments and peripheral systems.
  • Provide basic support for Laboratory Information System integrations from the connectivity and infrastructure side.

End User and Platform Support

  • Support desktop environments, virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI), and related user access solutions.
  • Assist with issue resolution for lab based IT systems to minimize operational disruption.

Collaboration and Continuous Improvement

  • Work collaboratively with onsite and offshore technical support teams.
  • Contribute to documentation, root cause analysis, and improvement initiatives to strengthen system reliability.

Required

  • Experience in desktop support, technical infrastructure support, or laboratory IT support
  • Strong knowledge of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, wired, and wireless connectivity
  • Experience troubleshooting hardware and peripheral connectivity issues
  • Familiarity with VDI environments and desktop support processes
  • Strong problem solving and communication skills

Preferred

  • Experience in laboratory or healthcare IT environments
  • Familiarity with LIS connectivity and laboratory instrumentation support
  • Understanding of hybrid support models across local and remote teams
