  • Develop, implement, and maintain SOPs for lab processes in partnership with Product Development and Quality.

  • Identify opportunities to streamline operations and drive continuous improvement consistent with Veracyte’s culture of innovation.

  • Build or enhance digital tools (inventory systems, tracking databases) to support scalable lab operations.

Materials & Equipment Management

  • Build and maintain a robust inventory of reagents, consumables, kits, and critical supplies to prevent workflow interruptions.

  • Oversee the entire reagent, consumable, and equipment purchasing process including vendor engagement and relationship management, comparative quote assessment and negotiation, tracking deliveries, and budget tracking and management.

  • Where feasible, develop and/or align processes for inventory and vendor management across SSF and SD Product Development labs

  • Partner with Equipment Engineering to ensure laboratory equipment is fully operational, and that necessary preventative maintenance and calibrations are up to date.

Sample & Test Material Management

  • Design, implement, and maintain systems or databases to track experimental samples, patient derived materials, and test articles used in assay development.

  • Ensure chain of custody integrity and maintain accurate sample histories to support regulated diagnostic development.

  • Collaborate with scientists to coordinate sample availability across multiple studies and pipelines.

Safety & Compliance

  • Serve as the laboratory safety lead; partner with EHS to promote a culture of operational excellence and safety.

  • Maintain chemical inventories, safety data sheets (SDS), biosafety documentation, and waste management programs.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards (OSHA, biosafety best practices, ISO aligned processes).

  • Support internal audits or documentation requests by Quality, Regulatory, or cross-functional teams.

Team Enablement & Support

  • Provide hands on operational support to product development scientists to minimize downtime and maximize scientific throughput.

  • Train new team members on lab practices, equipment use, inventory systems, and safety procedures.

  • Support coordination of development activities that span Product Development teams in SSF and San Diego, including shipping of materials and samples and alignment of methodologies

  • Foster a positive, collaborative, patient centered culture consistent with Veracyte’s values.

Who You Are:

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, bioengineering, or a related field; equivalent experience considered.

  • 6–7+ years of lab management or lab operations experience in molecular biology, diagnostics, or biotech R&D.

  • Demonstrated experience managing laboratory operations, equipment, and reagent inventories in a fast‑paced environment.

  • Experience designing or managing lab operational systems or databases (inventory tools, LIMS modules, tracking systems).

  • Outstanding organization, communication, and follow‑through.

Preferred
