Job Description - Lab Representative

Position Summary


Elevate Digital Optics (EDO), an independent, doctor-owned optical lab based in Dallas, TX, is hiring a Lab Representative to lead sales and business development efforts across a variety territories. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in the field in optical settings, builds meaningful customer relationships, and takes pride in helping optical/optometry practices succeed.

The ideal candidate combines sales skill, consultative mindset, and optical knowledge to support independent optometrists and opticians in transitioning their lab work to EDO. You’ll play a crucial role in driving growth through in-person visits, education, and relentless follow-up.



Key Responsibilities



  • Build relationships with independent optometry practices and optical shops.

  • Drive new account acquisition through field visits, networking, events, and referrals.

  • Educate practice staff on EDO’s ordering process, lens technology, and optical best practices.

  • Conduct quarterly performance reviews with existing accounts to drive service quality.

  • Troubleshoot service or communication gaps by acting as the customer’s internal advocate.

  • Use CRM (HubSpot) to track engagement, visit notes, and onboarding progress.

  • Collaborate weekly with the lab team to surface customer feedback and plan next visits.

  • Participate in occasional in-person events (trade shows, CE dinners, regional trainings).

  • Assist with customer service coverage when in the lab (especially during training).



Qualifications


Required:



  • 3–7 years of experience in outside sales, preferably in optical, eyewear, or lab services

  • Willingness and ability to travel 50–70% of the time

  • Proven ability to sell consultatively (not just pitch, but solve problems)

  • Excellent communication, follow-up, and organizational habits

  • Self-starter with the ability to manage their own pipeline and goals


Preferred:



  • Experience with lenses, labs, or working in/with optical practices

  • Familiarity with HubSpot CRM

  • ABO certification or clinical optical experience is a plus
