Job Description - Lab Tech

Description

Performs and reports physical, chemical analysis of water, production solutions, process eluant and product analysis for company and regulatory requirements. Test and analyze samples in a general wet chemistry lab. Operate, Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment used for laboratory testing, such as pipettors and spectrophotometers. Use automated equipment that analyzes multiple samples at the same time. Prepares chemical reagents and samples. Maintains files of sampling reports, chain of custody records, laboratory data, quality assurance records and other written correspondence. Follow all Standard Operating Procedures, Instructions and Safe Work Practices in the execution of the duties of the position.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for conducting laboratory analysis.
  • Understand and keep current with all laboratory safety and reporting techniques.
  • Complete all laboratory reports as applicable.
  • Understand and keep current with all laboratory analysis methods.
  • Responsible for the maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment.
  • Position requires a dependable and reliable individual whose daily presence adds to the success of the department.
  • Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Properly use personal protective equipment gloves, safety glasses, rubber boots, coveralls, and respirators.
  • Follow safety rules and procedures in all aspects of plant operations including radiation, chemical, and electrical safety.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Associate's degree in a science discipline.
  • 1-year experience working in a laboratory setting.
  • Ability to understand standards and procedures.
  • Must be able to differentiate colors accurately by sight.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Valid Texas Driver’s license
  • Must have a flexible schedule as position will include evenings, weekend and holidays, based on companies need.
  • Ability to work individually or as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem solving.
