LAB TECHNICIAN JOB SUMMARY

This position will provide analytical testing in wet chemistry and instrumentation laboratories and assist laboratory chemists, as needed, to ensure all work is completed promptly.

WHAT YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

• 
  Reviewing and submitting samples


• 
  Shipping and receiving samples


• 
  Heavy data entry
  
  


• 
  Performing routine laboratory tests


• 
  Performs a variety of routine laboratory operations


• 
  Making measurements, performing several routine quantitative and qualitative biological or chemical analytical tests


• 
  Maintains and cleans laboratory equipment


• 
  Assists in housekeeping duties to ensure clean laboratory area/facility


• 
  Performing calculations and determinations on tests and evaluating physical/chemical characteristics

LAB TECHNICIAN QUALIFICATIONS

• 
  Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or biology


• 
  Minimum of 1 - 2 years of industrial laboratory technician experience, with solid understanding of lab techniques and computer system


• 
  Previous instrumental analysis experiences


• 
  Effective written and verbal communication skills


• 
  Intermediate level user of Microsoft Office


• 
  Demonstrated experience with basic calculations


• 
  Must be able to read, write and speak English


• 
  Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 50 lbs

SPECIAL DEMANDS

• This job primarily operates in a professional office environment and routinely requires the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copy machines, etc. The noise level is typically low. Frequently in a stationary, sitting position for prolonged periods of time. Regularly move about inside the office to complete tasks, attend meetings or to access the copy machine or file cabinets. Periodically pulls/pushes doors open to move around the office. Occasionally may lift and carry objects up to 20 pounds.
  
  Candidates should be prepared to work occasional weekends and should exhibit flexibility for either the first or second shift.
