Eaton\u2019s ES GEIS CHD division is currently seeking a Lab Technician III. This position is onsite at our GEIS headquarters in Syracuse, NY. Relocation is not provided for this opportunity. \n\n \nThe expected annual salary range for this role is $69000 - $101000 a year. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. \n\n## What you\u2019ll do:\n\nThe Lab Technician III plays a critical role in supporting product development, quality assurance, and testing operations across the Engineering organization. This senior-level technician is responsible for independently executing complex electrical and lighting tests, maintaining equipment readiness, managing additive manufacturing resources, and collaborating closely with engineers to ensure accurate, reliable, and well documented test results. Candidates must demonstrate strong technical expertise, problem-solving capability, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.\n\nIn this role you will:\n\n * Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge in conducting a wide range of electrical and lighting tests across multiple applications.\n * Select appropriate equipment, analyzers, and instrumentation required to capture accurate data for diverse test requests.\n * Develop custom test programs for both quality assurance and new product introduction (NPI) testing fixtures.\n * Configure, deploy, and maintain multiple testing programs across various machines tailored to project-specific requirements.\n * Ensure consistency and repeatability in testing by identifying deviations, addressing common errors, and implementing corrective actions.\n * Collaborate closely with engineers to ensure testing procedures are executed accurately and aligned with project requirements.\n * Provide feedback on test failures, offering recommendations for product improvements and proposing alternative test methods where needed.\n * Work with quality and engineering teams to address customer concerns and resolve issues with nonconforming components \n * Guide stakeholders through testing processes to ensure clarity in methods, expectations, and results.\n * Require minimal guidance, seeking support only for large-scale or highly complex projects involving unfamiliar standards or unique requirements.\n * Independently manage testing requests, prioritizing and completing tasks efficiently without direct supervision.\n * Demonstrate flexibility and commitment by working irregular hours when necessary to maintain continuous testing operations.\n\n\n\n## Qualifications:\n\nBasic (Required) Qualifications:\n\n * Bachelor\u2019s degree from an accredited institution.\n * Minimum four (4) years of experience within a testing laboratory or manufacturing environment.\n * Eaton will not consider applicants for employment immigration sponsorship or support for this position. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.\n\n\n\nPreferred Qualifications:\n\n * Demonstrated, extensive experience in product testing, engineering support, or laboratory operations \u2014 preferably in lighting, electrical systems, or related electromechanical fields.\n * Proven ability to work with industry standard test methods, measurement practices, and lab safety procedures.\n * Proficiency using laboratory test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, power analyzers, integrating spheres, and data acquisition systems.\n * Ability to set up, troubleshoot, and validate test fixtures and instrumentation with minimal guidance.\n * Comfortable interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, and test standards.\n * Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel formulas/charts, SharePoint file structures, Teams communication/collaboration).\n * Experience with data logging, test automation interfaces, or report generation tools is highly desirable.\n * Hands-on experience with 3D printers or additive manufacturing equipment, including operation, maintenance, material selection, and basic CAD model preparation.\n * Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills with the ability to isolate test issues, equipment malfunctions, or data anomalies.\n * Able to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and maintain reliability in a fast-paced engineering environment.\n * Demonstrated ability to adhere to quality systems, maintain accurate documentation, and follow structured test procedures.\n * Effective collaboration with engineering, quality, and production teams to support development, validation, and problem resolution.\n\n\n\n#LI-EE1\n\nWe are committed to ensuring equal employment opportunities for all job applicants and employees.
