Title: Labor Foreman

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CLASS:  Under supervision, is in charge of an assigned area within a district and is responsible for directing a crew of Laborers and other assigned workers engaged in the cleaning and maintenance of park and boulevard lawn areas. Performs related duties as required.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

• Directs the cleaning and maintenance of parks, boulevards, athletic fields, concerts, picnic and special event areas, playgrounds, beaches, lagoons, in an assigned area within a district. 


• Directs and assigns duties and activities to Laborers and other workers. 


• Assigns and is responsible for tools, materials, supplies, both hand and powered equipment provided for maintenance purposes.  


• In winter months, plows snow, spreads salt and directs the performance of such work by Laborers and other assigned workers. 


• Operates any mechanical or power-driven apparatus or equipment essential to the performance of the duties of this position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Training and Experience:  At least two years of experience performing manual labor work, one year of which should be in a supervisory capacity. 
License Requirement: Valid State of Illinois Driver’s License

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to operate maintenance equipment in a safe and efficient manner. 


• Ability to perform manual labor. 


• Ability to respond to routine inquiries from the public. 


• Supervisory skills

Rate of Pay:  $77,811.41 Annually
