Position Overview

The primary focus of this role is to conduct asbestos analysis on various building materials using Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM). This role is Monday-Friday  8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform asbestos analysis on building materials utilizing Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM).
  • Apply additional microscopy techniques, including Phase Contrast Microscopy (PCM) and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), as well as microbiology, mold/fungal, and bacterial sample analysis.
  • Accurately document and report analytical findings using Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Maintain and calibrate microscopy equipment to ensure accurate and reliable results.
  • Work independently while following established protocols and safety procedures.
  • Efficiently manage workload with the potential for overtime and weekend work once fully integrated into the role.
  • During the initial period, an extensive training will be provided in the use of Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM) and other relevant techniques.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Biology, Chemistry, or a related discipline (preferred).
  • Willingness to undergo a specialized course at the McCrone Group in Chicago (company-sponsored) for micro analyst position is a must.
  • Ability to complete QC and safety training.
