The position of Laboratory Systems Technician will be responsible for conducting various analytical testing for yarn and for site air quality permits, maintaining lab equipment and lab data management processes, troubleshooting lab issues, improving current practices and technology, overseeing day-to-day operations in the lab, committing to and assisting with EHS procedures and audits, signoff of Safe Work permits, training and coaching colleagues, and interacting with other stakeholders on site (i.e. production and R&D lab teams, polymer, spinning, process engineers, scientists, operators, etc.)
Responsibilities
- Responsible to ensuring all equipment in the chemical and physical testing is operating correctly.
- Prepare and analyze a variety of chemicals, solutions, and products for control purposes using standard and unique analytical procedures.
- Setup and validate a variety of analytical laboratory equipment (Gas Chromatography (GCs), titrators, karl fisher, colorimeter, etc.)
- Set up systems to identify warnings from data analysis.
- Ensure the most up to date trainings of personnel in the labs.
- Data Collection, analysis, and presentation of results using Microsoft office and other data management systems.
- Ensure all laboratory equipment is running as designed and/or programmed by performing quality checks, both internally and externally
- Safe handling of chemicals is a must, including familiarity with SDS, 3E online and Chemlist systems for chemical inventory and management.
- Update and validate job procedures (JPs) and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Occasionally perform a wide range of analytical sampling and testing on various chemicals, polymers, and solutions (Essential Material testing, toxicology, product acceptance, etc.)
- Occasionally complete physical testing analysis including Instron analysis
- Implement improvements to practice and technique to the labs
- Having a strong sense of urgency and commitment to achieving outstanding results and delivering on those results

- Utilizing strong observation and critical thinking skills
Qualifications (required):
- Associate degree or higher; preferably in a science or technical field of study
- Completed and passed a college-level chemistry course with a lab from an accredited college/university
- Completed and passed a college-level math course from an accredited college/university
Qualifications (preferred):
- Analytical computer skills related to collecting, presenting, and interpreting data
- 2 years of laboratory experience
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (including but not limited to creating charts/graphs, pivot tables, data entry, data interpretation)
- Strong communication skills
