Position Summary:

The Laboratory Technician, under supervision of licensed laboratory personnel, will perform clinical laboratory work with automated instruments for all patient age ranges.  The Laboratory Technician may be assigned to perform duties in various areas such as Microbiology, Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Chemistry, Special Chemistry, Immunology, or Transfusion Services.  Will perform a variety of chemical, hematologic, microscopic, bacteriologic, and immunologic tests and procedures accurately and in a timely manner.  Maintains sterile conditions.  Must have proven effective guest relations with a variety of public and health care practitioners.  Computer / Software Experience and Knowledge (MS Word, Excel, Access, Power Point)

Qualifications:

Prefer an associate degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university, with at least 30 semester hours in science courses which are divided between biological and physical science and three (3) months training in Clinical Laboratory or six (6) months training experience in a clinical laboratory or at a school recognized by a national accredited agency in clinical laboratory technician instruction or equivalent work experience.

Prefer one (1) year full time of hospital or medical laboratory Technician experience, with knowledge of basic principles of laboratory tests associated with automated laboratory equipment, and knowledge of basic laboratory methods and procedures.
