Job Description - Laboratory Technician

Department: Operations

Function: Quality control on raw materials and finished product

Reporting to: Quality Manager

Direct Subordinates: None

Status: Hourly

Duties and Responsibilities:

Quality control and Quality assurance on finished product

  1. Analysis of raw materials
  2. Identification of chemical process flaws
  3. Product certification
  4. Miscellaneous QA/QC duties
  5. Adhere to all Company policies and procedures
  6. Knowledge of computer reporting
  7. Entry of sample result into computer software
  8. Cleaning and maintaining lab equipment, including recalibration of equipment
  9. Maintaining equipment records and daily work logs.
  10. Receive, label, and safely store samples to be tested and retained.
  11. Perform routine and non-routine tests and analyses
  12. Practice safe work habits, including complying with all safety, health and environmental rules and regulations.

Requirements

Experience and Qualifications:

1.  High School diploma

2.  Two years’ experience in practical laboratory setting desired

3.  Knowledge of process and process technology

Essential Functions:

  1. High degree of accuracy in operations
  2. Knowledge and experience with automated laboratory test equipment
  3. Able to communicate effectively
  • speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations
  • good listening skills, getting clarification when necessary
  • constructively participates in meetings
  • writes clearly and informatively, editing work for spelling and grammar
  • effectively presents numerical data
  • effectively writes reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • effectively presents information and responds to questions from supervisors
  • communicates effectively with the entire team

4. Ability to adapt to change

5. Ability to work in a fast paced environment with the need to multitask and prioritize.

Working Conditions:

Standing for extended periods of time.

Dexterity of hands and fingers required to operate a computer keyboard or mouse, and to handle other computer components.

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.  

Working 12-hour shifts

Holidays as needed or scheduled

Change the schedule as needed

Schedule flexibility for lab coverage
