Job Description - Laboratory Technician I

The Role:

This role supports laboratory research and testing programs by performing analytical work, maintaining instruments, and ensuring accurate data collection and reporting. The position operates under the guidance of a technical specialist (Chemist/Engineer) and may provide day-to-day direction to others within project constraints.

Core Responsibilities:

To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Technical & Analytical Work

  • Utilize a full range of established methods and procedures, often involving multiple steps requiring sound judgment

  • Perform detailed calculations and statistical analysis

  • Check data for accuracy and integrity

  • Record data, observations, and conclusions clearly and accurately

Project & Operational Support

  • Plan and organize own work within research program or test schedule constraints

  • May direct day-to-day activities of others

  • Work on specific projects under guidance of a technical specialist

  • Communicate with lab customers regarding routine matters

Equipment & Maintenance

  • Perform routine maintenance on a wide range of laboratory instruments

  • Conduct light repair work by following documented procedures

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Associate’s degree in general science, chemistry, biology, or related field with 4+ years of experience, OR

  • High School diploma with 6–10 years of laboratory experience

  • Basic level of technical expertise required

  • Experience with advanced measurement techniques and strong laboratory practices

  • Ability to follow well-documented procedures

  • Ability to learn and apply complex instrumental method

The estimated pay range for this position is $20/hr. to $23/hr.. Starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience, and work location.
