Job Summary:

SPL is growing and is currently looking for a Laboratory Technician II - Energy in Houston, TX The Laboratory Technician II must be team oriented, proactive and goal driven. This position will perform laboratory analyses as specified by method protocol and perform duties under the general supervision of the laboratory manager/supervisor.

• Review and sign off on any data and/or reports prepared by Technician I;
• Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and/or calibration for all SPL equipment used including PC, scanners, instrumentation, parts, fittings, and sample cylinders;
• Perform sample and QC analyses as specified by the test method, and ensure that all relevant and/or required information is properly documented and recorded;
• Review and interpret results to verify that data is accurate and reasonable;
• Perform analytical calculations for reporting data into LIMS;
• Compare current data with historical data in LIMS to spot problem samples and notify the client as necessary;
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• 3-5 years relevant laboratory experience required;
• Prior experience with crude assay distillation process required;
• Prior experience with ASTM D2892 and/or D5236 test methods required;
• Knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Excel, Adobe Acrobat and the Internet.

Education:

Associates Degree in Science required. Bachelor's degree preferred.

This position is not eligible for relocation.

This position does not require travel.

Work Schedule:

This position will work 8 hours Monday-Friday in the Houston, TX Office. This position is subject to overtime availability to meet deadlines.
