Brief Summary:
The Lamination Operator reports directly to the Production Manager and is responsible for operating the presses and lay-up jobs in accordance to the production schedule.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to (other duties may be assigned):
Set-up:
- Must fully understand the Lamination Process from Lay-up to Lam Inspection.
- Perform every aspect of the Lay-up process and procedures
- Must be familiar with different types of material and their locations
- Perform sequential lamination process
- Must know the proper way of storing and maintaining Caul Plates
- Must enforce Caul Plate Refurbish Cycle
- Reading a traveler and lay up construction
- Ability to read and fully understand Customer Blueprints
- Ability to understand and modify certain production stack-ups to meet overall board thickness
Machine:
- Loading a recipe or monitoring an established process profile for OEM and PHI presses
- Proper use of a Power Lift
- Load the laid up books of parts in the press
- Thermocouple placement
- Temperature control adjustments (old press)
- Manual shuttle methods (old presses)
- Vacuum frame methods (old press)
- Break down and ID the books of parts
- Verify and inspect parts thicknesses an surface conformance
- Flash rout of laminated panels
Quality:
- Maintain the area, tools and equipment clean
- Handle product with care
- Proper panel handling
- Proper inner layer handling
- Proper lay-up technique including use of hair net
- Correct scribing of panels
- Practical and accurate use of a micrometer
- Calculating Rate of Rise and Time at Temperature
- Pay attention to details.
- Work overtime as required
- Fill the required SPC system in place
- And other duties as assigned
Safety:
- Department requirements regarding ear plugs
- Gloves when required
- Exposed to radiation Equipment
- Handling irritant debris
- Handling sharp objects
- Proper drill bit handling
- Back-support belt

Skill/ Education:
- Printed Circuit board experience preferred but not required
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Read, write and speak English on a working level.
- Previous laminating experience is a plus
- Good communication skills.
Computer skills:
- Must be familiar with PC operation from start-up to shutdown.
- Able to navigate and troubleshoot necessary software that is utilized for production.
- Microsoft Word – Utilize when writing memos and printing press profiles from OEMs.
- Microsoft Excel – Must know how to input data into spreadsheets in order to map SPCs.
