Do you want to work in a drama-free, collaborative environment where questions are welcomed and learning is part of the culture?

If that sounds like you, we’d love to meet you!

About Lancaster Veterinary Specialties (LVS)

Lancaster Veterinary Specialties is a multi-specialty referral hospital in beautiful Lancaster, PA. We combine advanced veterinary medicine with a supportive, family-style team culture.

Our technicians are valued, mentored, and encouraged to grow—whether you’re newer to specialty medicine or looking to expand your skill set in a thoughtful, well-supported environment.

And yes—we really do mean it:
No evenings. No weekends. No holidays.

About the Role

This position is a shared role between Surgery and Internal Medicine, offering a unique opportunity to:

  • Build strong anesthesia and technical skills

  • Learn advanced procedures at a comfortable, supported pace

  • Gain exposure to additional specialty departments over time

This is an excellent opportunity for a technician who is still learning or eager to learn and wants hands-on mentorship in a specialty setting.

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking a motivated, compassionate Veterinary Technician who:

  • Is excited to learn and grow in surgery and internal medicine

  • Communicates well and great attention to detail

  • Enjoys working as part of a team and supporting others

  • Cares deeply about patient comfort, safety, and quality care

  • Brings a positive, professional attitude to work each day

Experience is helpful—but curiosity, initiative, and a willingness to learn matter just as much.

Mentorship & Training at LVS

We believe great technicians are developed, not thrown in and expected to figure it out alone. At Lancaster Veterinary Specialties, you’ll receive structured support and hands-on mentorship designed to help you grow with confidence.

As a newer or specialty-curious technician, you can expect:

  • One-on-one training with experienced technicians and clinicians

  • A supportive onboarding process with technicians who love to teach and mentor.

  • Gradual skill advancement—no pressure to “know it all” on day one

  • Ongoing feedback, encouragement, and opportunities to ask questions

  • Cross-training in Surgery and Internal Medicine, with exposure to other specialty departments over time

  • You’ll even have the chance to learn how to run CT scans—a skill that sets technicians apart and opens doors for long-term growth in specialty medicine.

Whether you’re transitioning from general practice or just beginning to explore specialty medicine, we’re committed to helping you build strong technical skills, confidence, and a long-term career path—at a pace that sets you up for success.

What You’ll Learn & Do

With training and support, you will:

  • Prepare and monitor patients under anesthesia

  • Assist with surgical and internal medicine procedures

  • Place IV catheters, collect blood samples, and perform radiographs

  • Provide excellent patient care and client education

  • Administer treatments and fill prescriptions

  • Maintain accurate and thorough medical records

  • Collaborate with other departments as your skills grow

Why You’ll Love Working at LVS

  • A true unicorn clinic: No drama, no gossip, no toxic behavior—just kind, respectful professionals who genuinely enjoy working together.

  • Supportive mentorship: You’ll never be expected to “just figure it out.” Training, guidance, and encouragement are part of our culture, especially for newer or specialty-curious technicians.

  • Team-first environment: We help each other, communicate openly, and celebrate wins—big and small.

  • Patient-centered care: Every decision is made with compassion, quality, and patient advocacy at the forefront.

  • Room to grow: Cross-training in Surgery and Internal Medicine, with opportunities to explore additional specialty departments over time.

  • Leadership that listens: Our leaders are approachable, fair, and invested in your success and well-being.

  • Work-life balance that’s real: Day shift only, Monday–Friday, with no weekends or holidays—so you can enjoy your life outside of work.

  • You’ll feel valued: Your voice matters here, your growth is supported, and your contributions are truly appreciated.

Qualifications

  • Veterinary technician experience preferred (general practice experience welcomed!)

  • Licensed technicians (CVT/LVT/RVT) encouraged to apply

  • Specialty experience not required—we are happy to train the right candidate

  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and desire to learn are essential

Benefits

  • Paid time off + sick time + paid major holidays

  • Monday–Friday daytime schedule

  • Health, dental, and vision insurance

  • Uniform allowance

  • 401(k) with up to 5% employer match after 12 months

  • Continuing education allowance for licensed technicians

  • STD, LTD, and life insurance

  • HSA account for select insurance plans.

  • Supportive leadership and a team that truly feels like family
