Job Description - Land Surveyor in Training (LSIT)


MacKay Sposito is seeking a full-time Land Surveyor in Training - LSIT to join our expanding Land Surveying team in Roseville, CA.  In this role, you will contribute to a wide range of surveying projects from boundary and topographic work to construction staking and mapping, while gaining valuable experience and mentorship on the path to full licensure. Project experience in land development & infrastructure surveying, and an interest in growth within the discipline are preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect and process survey data using GPS, scanners, and total stations to produce accurate measurements.
  • Create boundary, topographic and construction survey drawings and maps.
  • Assist survey crew with field layout and staking for construction and boundary projects.
  • Prepare survey reports and other deliverables for clients and internal use.
  • Ensure QA/QC and adherence to industry standards and project specifications.
  • Collaborate with engineers and surveyors to support successful project completion.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • LSIT certification required (Fundamentals of Surveying exam passed).
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
  • Familiarity with GIS software.
  • Understanding of survey principles, methods, and procedures.
  • Ability to collaborate with the survey team, engineers and project managers.
 

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with Trimble Business Center.
  • Previous field work experience.
  • Self-motivated with exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to quality work.
  • Comfort with varied field conditions and travel across project sites.
  • Interest in pursuing PLS license.

Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as various market and business considerations.

The wage range for this position is $30-60/hr depending on experience.  

Full-time employees receive a well-rounded benefit package including access to our company-sponsored Medical (including an HSA High Deductible option), Dental, Vision, FSA, and Supplemental Life Insurance plans. We also offer 100% company paid Life Insurance, Short Term Disability, and Long Term Disability coverage. Employees are eligible to participate in our company 401(k) plan with up to a 4% match. Additionally, employees also receive paid vacation time, paid sick time, and 11 paid holidays and are able to participate in employee ownership options. MacKay Sposito pays for expenses associated with licensure as well as annual performance bonuses.

Employment requires passing a pre-employment background check and drug screen.
