Land Surveyor/Mapping Expert

Your Opportunity

Stantec has an opening for an experienced Professional Land Surveyor to join our Infrastructure group.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and responsible for work on mapping related projects, including boundary, topographic, ALTA surveys, control surveys, land descriptions, and subdivision mapping on public and private land development projects.


• Task Management, including managing scope, schedule, and budgets


• Oversee financial details and performance of survey projects and/or tasks


• Supervise technical office and field staff assigned to your team.


• Able to perform survey calculations, analysis and final map checking, abstracting title data, and record drawings research. 


• Write descriptions of property boundary surveys for use in deeds, leases, or other legal documents. 


• Coordinate survey efforts with clients and other professions within Stantec.


• Sign and seal survey documents. 


• Perform survey project quality control and quality assurance.


• Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned

Your Capabilities and Credentials

• Advanced knowledge of local survey laws, surveying principles, techniques and procedures, occupational hazards, and safety precautions. 


• Proficient in relevant technical software including AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, and/or equivalent. 


• Working knowledge of field instrumentation, GPS, and robotic total stations. 


• Ability to solve complex problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation. 


• Demonstrates strong math skills, including algebra and trigonometry. 


• Strong verbal and written communication skills.


• Valid driver’s license and good driving record required. 

Education and Experience

• Licensed Professional Land Surveyor in the state of California is required.


• Minimum of 8 years Land Surveying experience preferred. Minimum 3 years of experience in a supervisory capacity, including directing workloads, developing staff, and completing performance assessments.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time.
