Wage Rate: $18.74 - $23.91


Shift: Friday - Monday 0600-1630 (4 positions); Monday - Thursday 0600-1630 (1 position)

Basic Function


Grant PUD manages recreation sites and Project Lands within the Priest Rapids Project. The Lands and Recreation Maintenance Aide is an entry level bargaining unit employee. This position works under the supervision of a Lands and Recreation management position or other designated employee, or Foreman as assigned. This position assists with Grant PUD recreation and shoreline operations and maintenance to provide for a safe and enjoyable visitor experience. This position will perform basic recreation site and shoreline maintenance labor in a variety of settings such as campgrounds, golf courses, boat launches, marinas, docks, swim areas, picnic areas, trails, recreation-related buildings, and undeveloped shorelines.


Essential Functions



  • Interact positively and professionally with the public and answer questions regarding recreation opportunities in the Priest Rapids Project.

  • Clean the general grounds, buildings and park equipment of recreation sites and Project lands including restroom cleaning, garbage/litter pick up.

  • Perform recreation site and Project Land infrastructure maintenance.

  • Perform landscaping and vegetation maintenance including; debris hauling, planting, mowing, turf maintenance and tree care.

  • Apply basic herbicide and pesticide.

  • Operate irrigation systems, sprinklers, clean/replace filters and sprinkler heads.

  • Perform hard surface maintenance including sweeping/blowing surfaces and snow removal.

  • Perform light debris removal from boat ramps, parking lots, sweeping of curbs, trails and edging.

  • Perform sign maintenance, graffiti cleaning, etc.

  • Operate miscellaneous small tools/equipment associated with basic recreation site and Project land maintenance.

  • Assist Lands Specialists in recreation and land management programs, including community outreach events.

  • Perform related duties as assigned.


Education


Must possess a High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution. 


Experience



  • Approximately 1 to 2 years outdoor work experience with preference given to individuals that have experience with recreation or facility maintenance.

  • Valid WA State driver's license.


Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities



  • Be self-motivated and exercise sound judgment.

  • Effectively communicate with and relate to people with different backgrounds.

  • Problem-solve, think clearly and act professionally under stress.

  • Knowledge of operation of hand/mechanical tools and equipment used in recreation sites.

  • Operate vehicles in a safe manner by observing legal and defensive driving practices.

  • Cooperate and work effectively with others in a positive team atmosphere.

  • Ability to use computers, write legibly and fill out forms.


Physical Requirements



  • Must be mentally and physically fit for duty.

  • Able to work in extreme heat or cold, both inside and outside.

  • Able to lift objects up to 50 lbs.

  • Able to reach above shoulder level.

  • Climbing to access work as needed.
