Job Description - Landscape Enhancement Team Leader



Position Overview


 


The landscape enhancement team leader manages the landscape enhancements and smaller scale work order projects. The team leader supervises one (1) to three (3) team members. The team leader is capable of operating a variety of equipment and has a working knowledge of best practices in: horticulturally sound planting, mulching, edging, pruning and landscape construction. Also, the team leader should possess a basic understanding of the maintenance requirements of all landscape and hardscape elements installed by Rine, including a basic understanding of irrigation principles. The team leader is responsible for quality control as well as production efficiency ratings. Team Leader will work closely with management and sales. This position reports to the Production Manager of Maintenance.


 


Compensation



  • Hourly compensation starting at $22/ Hour, based on experience and qualifications

Responsibilities


 



  1. Plans and organizes the day's route/jobs, ensuring that sufficient resources and materials are available, and completes it in the most time-efficient manner.

  2. Ensure that multiple tasks at each job site are organized and completed on a priority basis and within the parameters established for the account. Considers improvements to accounts and makes recommendations to management.

  3. May repair, replace, and/or clean patio’s; replace dead or damaged plant material, noting probable cause of decline; repair or replace low-voltage lighting; service garden ponds; perform minor repairs on irrigation, etc.

  4. Responsible for new installations of landscape jobs, including but not limited to: plantings, overseeding, sod and small construction projects.

  5. Operates a variety of mechanical equipment including but not limited to mini excavators, skid steers, stand on skid steers, tillers, sod cutters, string trimmers, mowers, plant augers, chain saws, basic hand tools and more.

  6. Operates non-CDL vehicles such as dump trucks and trucks and trailer combinations.

  7. Responsible for daily mobile time tracking and material allocation.

  8. Responsible for quality control and production efficiency.   

  9. Maintains a clean and safe work environment, including work sites and equipment.

  10. Manages a team of one (1) or more employees, including handling personnel issues onsite and training employees on best practices as well as policies and procedures.

  11. Interacts with clients routinely answering questions and assuring client satisfaction as well as communicating clients concerns to management.

  12. Applies chemicals under the direction of licensed custom applicator.

  13. Maintains assigned equipment/ tools and notifies mechanic/management of needed repairs.

  14. Active involvement in snow removal operations during winter months.


 


Experience and Qualifications


 



  • This position requires a high school degree or GED. A two- or four-year degree in a construction or horticulture-related discipline is preferred but not required. A minimum of 2 years landscape enhancement team leader experience is required without degree.

  • Candidate must be able to read and write.

  • The successful individual will have a working knowledge of standard horticultural practices, including but not limited to planting, pruning, corrective pruning, weed identification/control and fertilization.

  • The candidate will have a working knowledge of hardscaping practices including paver, pond, low-voltage lighting, and irrigation troubleshooting.

  • Strong oral communication skills, job planning skills, and mechanical aptitude are a must.

  • Ability to operate a truck and trailer combination proficiently.

  • Valid Ohio drivers license with a clean record.

encounter on the job site. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; crouch; stoop or kneel; reach with hands and arms; talk; and hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 80 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job are dictated by the Ohio Driver’s License requirements.
