Landscape Maintenance Driver Crew Member/Laborer

We have an opportunity for a Landscape Maintenance Crew Member and Driver to join our maintenance shrub team in our Venice, FL office. This role is positioned to have a big impact in our growing business both organically and through acquisitions. This role will provide the upfront installation of irrigation clients’ needs. This team member will report to the Irrigation Manager of a branch and/or region.

The role will be based in Venice, FL in the local branch office.

Job Summary:

As a Landscaping Maintenance Crew Member and Driver, you will be responsible for maintaining the health and appearance of shrubs, including planting, pruning, weeding, and applying mulch, while also assisting with other landscaping tasks under the guidance of a supervisor. A critical part of this role involves driving to and from job sites with other crew members using company vehicles. You must have a valid U.S. driver's license with a clean driving record within the last three years and be able to pass a drug test.

Responsibilities:

• Shrub Maintenance:
  
  
  
  • Plant new shrubs according to planting plans, ensuring proper spacing, depth, and soil preparation.
  
  
  • Trim and shape shrubs to maintain their health and appearance, removing dead or damaged branches.
  
  
  • Remove weeds from around shrubs, using hand tools or herbicides as directed.
  
  
  • Apply mulch around shrubs to retain moisture, suppress weeds, and improve soil health.
  
  
  • Water shrubs as needed, ensuring they receive adequate moisture, especially during dry periods.
  
  
  • Apply fertilizer to shrubs to promote healthy growth, following recommended application rates and timing.
  
  
  • Remove spent flower heads from shrubs to encourage continued blooming.
  
  
  
  


• General Landscaping Tasks:
  
  
  
  • Assist with mowing lawns and edging around walkways, flowerbeds, and other areas.
  
  
  • Assist with applying fertilizers, herbicides, and insecticides to lawns as needed.
  
  
  • Pick up trash, debris, and fallen leaves from lawns and landscaped areas.
  
  
  • Operate and maintain hand tools, power tools, and equipment used in landscaping, such as mowers, trimmers, and blowers.
  
  
  
  


• Driving Responsibilities:
  
  
  
  • Safely drive company vehicles to and from job sites with crew members.
  
  
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness and report any maintenance issues.
  
  
  • Adhere to all traffic laws and company driving policies.

  • Adhere to all safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  
  
  
  

Qualifications:

• Valid U.S. driver's license with a clean driving record within the last three years.


• Ability to pass a drug test.
• Prior experience working in landscaping or similar setting such as construction preferred but not required.
