Job Description - Landside Mechanic


Title: Landside Mechanic

Classification: Full Time (Travel Required)

Position Summary:

The Landside Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing company-owned equipment and vehicles used in landside operations. This role ensures all equipment is safe, reliable, and operating efficiently to support daily operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on heavy equipment, trucks, trailers, and support machinery (e.g., loaders, forklifts, service vehicles).
  • Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic issues using appropriate tools and diagnostic equipment.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and complete required service documentation.
  • Repair or replace defective parts, components, or systems in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and parts inventory.
  • Ensure all work is completed in compliance with company policies and safety regulations.
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and perform emergency repairs as needed.
  • Collaborate with operations personnel to identify equipment concerns and prioritize repairs.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Assist with equipment inspections and regulatory compliance requirements.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience as a mechanic, preferably with heavy equipment or diesel engines.
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
  • Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred (or ability to obtain).
  • Welding and fabrication experience is a plus.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime or on-call as needed.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to work in outdoor environments in varying weather conditions.
  • Frequent standing, bending, climbing, and kneeling.
  • Ability to work around heavy equipment and machinery safely.
