PacAero’s core businesses include an array of electronic connectors and housings for the world’s most extreme environments. PacAero is primarily located in Wenatchee, WA with a remote manufacturing site, Bonded Metals, located in Sequim, WA. Working together, we employ proprietary technologies, best practices engineering, and specialized manufacturing techniques to produce hermetic connectors and electronic packaging that perform in the world’s most extreme environments. PacAero’s products are hard at work in medical components, such as cardiac-function devices, on key aerospace & defense programs, in space and deep below the earth's surface.

The Position:

Job Summary 

Working under general supervision, Laser Weld Operator is responsible for setting up and operating laser weld systems in joining precision parts according to specifications. The role involves monitoring machine processes, performing measurements and inspections to ensure product quality, and adhering to safety and production standards.

Schedule: Mon-Thurs, 5am to 3:30pm

Primary Responsibilities 

  • Work cooperatively with all employees.
  • Willingness to adapt work schedule to company needs.
  • Consistently at work and on time.
  • Following company handbook policy and companies cell phone policy.
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
  • Observe safety regulations and follow protective equipment requirements. Report hazardous observations to your lead or supervisor.
  • Must be able to retain information and show continued progression of growth towards Level II.

Laser Weld Operator I Responsibilities 

  • Learn to locate and interpret Engineering Drawings to correctly determine requirements.
  • Develop strong understanding of the quality requirements of individual components and the finished products. 
  • Use Certified Laser Weld Instructions (CLWI) to Setup and operate BOTH Laser weld systems: LASAG (SP-41070 MTH 4) and IPG (SP-41070 MTH 5).
  • Learn use of correct tools, techniques, and equipment to inspect dimensions of components and finished assemblies as required.
  • In-process visual inspections under a microscope to confirm compliance with weld quality standards in WQS-300.
  • Obtain certification for Laser Weld Operator compliant to D17.1 guidelines
  • Must perform all tasks with rigid adherence to parts handling best practices
  • Work towards Pass/Fail Leak Check Certification.

Qualifications

Education/Previous Experience Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Previous experience preferred but not required.

Work Environment

  • Safety hazards: Can be exposed to inherent risks from powerful, high-speed equipment, including moving parts and sharp tools. Will also be working with powerful Class IV Lasers. Safety protocols are critical to prevent injuries.
  • Contaminants: The work involves exposure to airborne particles like welded metal and chemical fumes, necessitating adequate ventilation and protective measures to minimize health risks when on the shop floor.
  • Protective gear: Personal protective equipment (PPE) is a requirement for safety. This includes Laser safety glasses, smocks, and gloves as required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Standing/Sitting: Long hours in a chair or standing.
  • Lifting: The job can require lifting and moving heavy parts or raw materials. Some roles may involve moving objects weighing up to 20 pounds when on the shop floor.
  • Manual dexterity: Fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination are necessary for manipulating tools and performing precise measurements.
  • Repetitive motion: Many tasks, such as loading and unloading workpieces and inspecting parts, are repetitive and can potentially lead to musculoskeletal issues over time.
  • Precision and vision: Must have excellent close-up vision, depth perception, and the ability to distinguish colors and textures to accurately read blueprints, inspect finished products, and use measuring instruments.
  • Stamina: Physical stamina is required for the duration of a shift to perform all duties of the job. 

In addition, all employees of PA&E are expected to:

  • Promote teamwork and cooperative effort 
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and unobstructed work area 
  • Understand and apply appropriate quality improvement processes
