The Role: Lateral Associate - Real Estate | Los Angeles, CA

We are seeking mid-level and senior Real Estate Associates to join a prominent and expanding team in Los Angeles, CA. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on high-impact real estate transactions, contribute to industry-defining deals, and grow within a collaborative and dynamic environment.

Practice Expertise and Focus

The firm's real estate practice is recognized for its breadth, depth, and innovative solutions. Key focus areas include:

• Mortgage/Mezzanine Debt: Representing lenders and borrowers in complex financing transactions.
• Joint-Venture Equity Work: Structuring and negotiating joint ventures for real estate development and investment.
• Acquisitions and Dispositions: Advising clients on purchasing and selling commercial properties, including multi-use developments.
• Development Projects: Handling legal and regulatory aspects of real estate development, including zoning, permitting, and construction agreements.
• Cross-Disciplinary Transactions: Collaborating with teams across practices to deliver comprehensive solutions.

In this position, you will:

• Represent clients in mortgage and mezzanine debt transactions, including lender and borrower-side engagements.
• Advise on joint-venture equity arrangements, acquisitions, dispositions, and development projects.
• Draft, review, and negotiate complex legal documents and agreements.
• Collaborate with clients to craft innovative solutions for challenging real estate transactions.
• Contribute to the mentorship and development of junior associates in a supportive team culture.

Ideal Candidate Profile

We are looking for candidates who bring the following qualifications and attributes:

Experience and Expertise

• Experience Level: Mid-level or senior associate with expertise in one or more of the following areas:
  • Mortgage/mezzanine debt transactions (lender and/or borrower side).
  • Joint-venture equity work.
  • Acquisitions and dispositions.
  • Development projects.
• Non-Real Estate Backgrounds: Strong transactional backgrounds in other areas with an interest in transitioning to real estate will also be considered.

Educational Credentials

• Juris Doctor (JD): Degree from a top-tier, accredited law school with excellent academic credentials.
• Bar Admission: Active membership in good standing or eligibility to waive into the California Bar.

• Strategic Thinking: Ability to structure innovative solutions for complex real estate deals.
