Job Description - Lathe Operator / Setup Machinist (Weekend Shift)

General Description

Description of Role and Responsibilities


We are seeking support in our weekend shift, which follows a 3–12-hour schedule.  We are looking for Setup Level Machinists who will be responsible for setting up and operating 3-axis CNC Lathes with minimal assistance to produce complex machined aerospace parts. Operator level machinists must have relevant lathe experience and be competent in diagnosing tool cutter issues related to production manufacturing.  You may be required to help operate standard 3, 4, or 5-axis mills when needed.


 


Hard Skills



  • Minimum 3 years of experience working on CNC Lathes



  • Setup experience with Hwacheon and DMG Mori Lathes with Fanuc Controls a plus

  • Familiarity/Experience with Solidworks, HSMWorks, and Esprit Cam a plus

  • Multi-axis Lathe with Live Tooling Experience preferred

  • Maintain product quality through monitoring and adjusting CNC offsets as needed

  • A working knowledge of G and M codes applied in setting and adjusting offsets and interacting with CNC programs.

  • Ability to read prints and apply dimensional specifications to inspection processes

  • Working knowledge of GD&T principles

  • Experience with Aircraft grade Aluminum, Titanium, Stainless Steel, Some High Temperature Alloys, and Plastics.

  • Strong ability to visually inspect parts, able to troubleshoot tool degradation and breakage easily using visual techniques

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail

  • Ability to research, comprehend and retain job related information and instructions


 


Soft Skills



  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible within job disciplines

  • Demonstrate good communication with your trainer and co-workers and use time wisely

  • Work overtime as required to meet customer schedule

  • Maintain quality standards focusing on process improvements to reduce scrap

  • Good communication skills to communicate professionally with shop personnel and management

  • Position requires the ability to lift up to 40 lbs. 


 


Education and Experience



  • High School or equivalent

  • Good English communication skills

  • 3 years of related experience


 


Compensation based on experience. Benefits include 100% company paid healthcare for the employee (85% for family), generous paid time off accrual, retirement plan with company contribution, educational support, bonuses, and more.
