Latin America Research Analyst - Portuguese Fluency (Temporary)

ISS STOXX is hiring! ISS STOXX is seeking a Corporate Governance Research Analyst to join our Latin American Research team to complete basic and advanced analytical governance research of companies assigned to the Brazilian market during the spring annual meeting season, starting in January 2027 for a term ending in early May 2027 (there could be some fluctuation in start and end dates).

The Corporate Governance Research Analyst performs governance research and completes proxy analyses for shareholder meetings of publicly-traded companies (focused on the Brazilian market). There is a requirement for fluency in Portuguese, in addition to fluency in English.

Responsibilities

• Read and understand company’s filings with the Brazilian Securities Regulator (CVM), as well as SEC filings (20-Fs, 6-ks) and other documents disclosed by publicly-traded companies (e.g. corporate governance reports) to distill financial, industry, and corporate governance information to draft analyses and issue proxy vote recommendations based on ISS' policy guidelines (available here).
• Check and ensure that the accurate company's data information has been collected including, but not limited to company's financials, directors' profiles, and remuneration data to be used in proxy analysis reports.
• Write timely and accurate reports, via quantitative and qualitative analysis, in accordance with ISS STOXX procedures and policy guidelines for the respective markets.

Qualifications

• Strong analytical abilities and some knowledge of corporate governance issues.
• Excellent writing and oral communication skills.
• Organizational skills, attention to detail, familiarity with data information, a self-driven work ethic, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a high-pressure, deadline-driven environment.
• Willingness to work long hours and weekends during peak weeks (March & April).
• Ability to work within a team-oriented environment and communicate with various internal parties
• Familiarity with the Brazilian regulator and stock exchange, as well as SEC filings.
• Bachelor's degree or higher, plus relevant work experience preferred in governance, accounting, law, or other corporate fields.
• Fluency in Portuguese is required, in addition to fluency in English.

Additional Information

• Work Schedule: This role follows a 5-days a week in office schedule.
• Peak Season: During peak season (late March to mid-April), overtime may be requested, which can include evenings or weekends.
• Payroll and Benefits: The payroll provider for this position is through a third party, so ISS STOXX benefits are not applicable. Benefits may be available through the third-party provider after an eligibility period; please inquire for more details.

• Rockville, MD: Located in the vibrant King Farm community, convenient access to transit (1 mile from Shady Grove Red Line), dining, green spaces with free parking, and access to an onsite gym.
• Washington, DC: A modern, open-floor workspace on Rhode Island Avenue in Northwest DC, with an onsite gym and convenient metro access.

Compensation: The pay range for this position in Rockville, MD, and Washington, DC, is $26.00 - $27.50 per hour. Exact compensation will vary based on skills, experience, and education.

Employment Type: Full-time, 40 hours per week, with overtime eligibility (subject to manager approval).
