Job Description

Eurofins PSS is seeking a Lead Analytical Chemist to oversee and support laboratory operations in a GMP-regulated pharmaceutical environment. This role combines hands-on analytical testing with team leadership responsibilities, ensuring high-quality data generation, compliance, and operational efficiency.

You’ll lead a team performing routine and technical testing, support process science and technical transfers, and ensure all lab activities meet regulatory and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Laboratory Responsibilities

  • Perform and support analytical testing of pharmaceutical products, including UV-Vis/Solo-VPE, pH, density, and osmolality.
  • Assist with technical transfer testing for development teams.
  • Conduct real-time checks and verifications of lab tasks.
  • Coordinate routine equipment maintenance, cleaning, and calibration.
  • Use electronic systems to document sample handling, procedures, and data.
  • Ensure documentation complies with GDP and ALCOA+ principles.
  • Review test results and logbooks for accuracy and compliance.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and properly labeled lab spaces.
  • Interact professionally with internal teams and external customers.
  • Complete all required safety and procedural training.

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Manage daily workload and scheduling for the lab team.
  • Conduct 1:1 meetings and lead team huddles.
  • Monitor and report productivity and quality metrics.
  • Perform safety walkthroughs and compliance checks.
  • Participate in hiring, onboarding, and training of new team members.
  • Deliver training to new hires and existing staff.
  • Support weekend and overtime scheduling as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of leadership experience in a laboratory setting.
  • Hands-on experience with analytical methods such as UV-Vis/Solo-VPE, pH, density, and osmolality.
  • Strong understanding of cGMP and laboratory compliance standards.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physically able to lift 25+ lbs, stand for extended periods, and perform routine lab tasks.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. without restriction or sponsorship.

What to Expect in the Hiring Process: 

  • 10-15 Minute Phone Interview with Region Recruiter
  • 45-60 Minute Virtual Interview with Manager and/or Group Leader
  • 30 Minute Virtual Interview with Site Director 

Position is full-time, 1st shift 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, Monday-Friday. Candidates living within a commutable distance of Rensselaer, NY, and the surrounding areas are encouraged to apply.
