Lead Business Systems & Automation Engineer
Location: Madison, Alabama; regular on-site warehouse presence required

Fulfyld is a third-party logistics company helping e-commerce brands store inventory, fulfill orders, and serve their customers. Our operation depends on connected systems spanning warehouse management, shipping, billing, customer service, and reporting.
We’re hiring a hands-on technical lead to own and improve those systems. You’ll work directly with the people using them, identify what needs to change, build practical solutions, and take responsibility for making them work reliably in daily operations.
This is a senior individual contributor role with substantial autonomy. You’ll inherit existing applications, integrations, and automations, along with a backlog of operational improvements. Your responsibility will span discovery, development, deployment, training, and ongoing support.
A typical problem might involve a billing discrepancy, an unreliable data feed, a warehouse printer, or a process that takes several spreadsheets and too much manual effort. You should be comfortable investigating the problem, gathering missing information, recommending an approach, and carrying it through to completion.
What you’ll own
- Business-system integrations: Build and maintain connections between Salesforce, warehouse and shipping platforms, carrier services, databases, and internal applications.
- Internal tools and automation: Develop applications, scripts, and workflows that reduce manual work and help employees complete tasks accurately.
- Data reliability: Investigate discrepancies across orders, inventory, shipping costs, and customer billing. Create repeatable checks, reconciliation processes, and clear exception reporting.
- Warehouse technology: Troubleshoot applications and integrations involving scanners, label printers, packing stations, cameras, and automated equipment. Coordinate with equipment vendors when specialist work is needed.
- Deployment and ongoing operation: Own testing, releases, monitoring, recovery procedures, and troubleshooting across hosted services, NAS containers, and Windows workstations.
- Workflow improvement: Spend time with warehouse, billing, and customer-service teams to understand how work happens. Simplify processes and verify that improvements work for their users.
- Technical coordination: Work directly with existing contributors and vendors, set clear acceptance criteria, and follow issues through to resolution.
- Documentation and handoffs: Maintain practical runbooks and train users and backup owners so systems can operate reliably beyond any one person.
What you bring
- A track record of independently delivering and maintaining production integrations, internal applications, or business systems.
- Strong hands-on Python and SQL skills, plus the ability to work productively in JavaScript or TypeScript.
- Experience with REST APIs, authentication, webhooks, scheduled jobs, and relational databases.
- Sound judgment around data integrity, including duplicate records, incomplete data, retries, and partially completed operations.
- Experience deploying and troubleshooting applications, using Git, reading logs, and managing configuration.
- The ability to translate an operational problem into a working solution without needing a fully written specification.
- Clear communication with nontechnical colleagues and the ability to introduce process changes respectfully.
- Effective use of AI development tools such as Claude Code or Codex, with personal accountability for reviewing, testing, and maintaining the results.
- Willingness to work directly on the warehouse floor and stay involved after a solution launches.
Experience that would be especially useful
- Logistics, fulfillment, distribution, manufacturing, or e-commerce operations.
- Salesforce administration, Flow, Apex, or integrations.
- PostgreSQL, MySQL, Supabase, Docker, Windows automation and Synology NAS environments.
- Barcode printing, Zebra devices, equipment interfaces, or warehouse automation.
- Billing reconciliation, carrier-cost analysis, inventory controls, or operational reporting.
You do not need experience with every tool listed. We care most about demonstrated ownership, technical judgment, and the ability to learn unfamiliar systems.

Within your first 90 days, you will have:

- Taken ownership of routine technical troubleshooting and coordination.
- Delivered a meaningful operational improvement through deployment and user adoption.
- Improved monitoring and reduced recurring manual intervention in selected workflows.

- Measurably reduced the CEO’s involvement in day-to-day technical execution.
Longer-term success means reliable systems, fewer recurring problems, less manual work, and employees who can get their jobs done without waiting for technical intervention.
