Job Description - Lead Cook - $17.00-$20.00 per Hour - Hocking Hills Lodge and Conference Center



Hocking Hills Lodge and Conference Center located inside Hocking Hills State Park is seeking candidates for Housekeeping Attendant positions. This can be a part-time or full-time position depending on your availability! 


Hocking Hills Lodge and Conference Center is a brand new 81-room lodge with 40 cabins, a full-service restaurant/lounge, and banquet facilities to accommodate up to 200 guests. More property information is available at www.GreatOhioLodges.com


Hocking Hills State Park is one of the most visited State Parks in the country requiring a level of attention to detail and service to meet the guest's expectations and experience.

Position Overview


The Lead Cook plays a key role in daily kitchen operations by preparing and presenting food to established standards, guiding and supporting the line and prep cooks, and helping ensure the kitchen runs efficiently and safely. This position serves as a role model in professionalism, culinary skill, and teamwork while upholding company standards for quality and service.


Essential Functions



  • Cooking & Production



  • Execute line and prep production according to recipes and presentation standards.

  • Ensure food quality, consistency, and proper portioning.

  • Support banquet and restaurant food production as scheduled.



  • Kitchen Organization & Safety



  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work environment.

  • Properly store, label, and rotate all food products.

  • Follow all food safety guidelines (HACCP, ServSafe) and sanitation standards.



  • Team Support



  • Provide direction to line cooks, prep cooks, and dish staff during shifts.

  • Train and mentor staff in food preparation, safety, and station responsibilities.

  • Set a positive example in attitude, appearance, and work ethic.



  • Operational Duties



  • Assist with kitchen opening, closing, and cleaning procedures.

  • Monitor food usage and help reduce waste.

  • Report maintenance, supply, or staffing issues to the Chef or Kitchen Supervisor.


Leadership Functions


Serve as the lead on the line during service periods.


Motivate and support kitchen staff to perform to standards.


Promote teamwork and a respectful work environment.


Professionally represent the property when interacting with guests or vendors.


Qualification Standards


Education: High school diploma or GED required. Culinary training preferred.


Experience: At least 2 years of full-service restaurant cooking experience; prior leadership experience preferred.


Skills & Abilities:



  • Strong culinary knowledge and cooking skills across multiple stations.

  • Ability to train, coach, and support staff.

  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.

  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.


Physical Demands


Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.


Regularly lift and carry up to 50 lbs.


Work in hot and humid kitchen environments.


Bend, squat, and reach as needed.


Appearance Guidelines


Maintain a neat, clean, and professional appearance in accordance with property standards.


Follow uniform and personal hygiene policies at all times.
