About this role:
Direct the promotion of client growth by providing developmental skills training in the following areas: sensory-motor development, communication development, social development, independent living development, affective development and behavior development utilizing a multi-disciplinary team-based approach.
This position is 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8:30-3:30 pm
In this role, you’ll get to:
- Supervises Habilitation Aides and volunteers to ensure they carry out their responsibilities and the agency mission.
- Develop and direct individual and group developmental activities
- Ensure that assigned individuals are involved in the community activities of their choice.
- Provide Case Management services to assigned clients
- Collect and record data relating to daily activities
- Participate in staff, team meetings, group and individual supervision
- Ensure that documentation of client progress is accurate
- Implement behavior management programs, data collection systems, DHSP.
- Provide direct service support in response to the needs of the clients
- Assist with client transportation transfer
- Ensure the maintenance and upkeep of classroom
- Ensure the safety of clients, aides and volunteers in the classroom
- Assist Program Director in administrative planning of program
- Identify local community resources and ensure individuals access to needed local resources on a consistent basis
- Appropriately implement teaching strategies for ISP goals and behavior plans
- Encourage and support individuals in making independent choices to the greatest extent possible.
- Ability to communicate clearly in spoken and written English
- Maintain agency standards of confidentiality
- Ability to advise, influence, exercise good judgment, and make thoughtful decisions
- Perform other job-related responsibilities as assigned
We are looking for people who have:
- Bachelors Degree in a Psychology/Special Education or related field and two years experience working with developmentally disabled adults; or High School Diploma and at least five years experience working with developmentally disabled adults
- Able to meet required competency level in Microsoft Office Software.
- Valid Driver’s License preferred
The physical requirements for this role:
- Frequent movement within classroom including but not limited to: kneeling, bending, sitting, lifting, and positioning of students.
- Operation of adaptive and specialized equipment.
- Ability to lift 40 pounds alone, 41+ pounds with the assistance of another person or adaptive equipment
- Ability to physically assist individuals as determined by their needs
- Ability to tolerate significant amounts of walking, standing, and sitting
