Job Description - Lead Developer - Room for Advancement

Purpose:
The IT Lead Developer will provide technical leadership for planning, designing, configuring, testing, implementing, documenting, training and maintaining the solutions for the products implemented on the ServiceNow platform to meet business needs and corporate objectives.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • ServiceNow Certified System Administrator Certification
  • ServiceNow Certified Application Developer Certification
  • Leading a team of developers
  • Minimum of 7 years developing on the ServiceNow platform
  • 5 years implementing systems using the Agile/Scrum methodology
  • Proven experience working with ServiceNow’s ITOM Visibility suite (CMDB, Discovery, Service Mapping, Service Graph, etc.)
  • Proven experience working with ServiceNow’s ITSM, ITBM, and CSM suites.
  • Experience with scripting in ServiceNow (Business Rules, UI Pages, UI Macros, etc.)
  • Experience implementing Service Catalog, CMS, MID Server, Integrations with LDAP and other applications external to ServiceNow
  • Familiarity with User Interface design and User Experience concepts
  • Proven experience in delivering ServiceNow for large organizations

Essential Job Functions:

  • Establishing and maintain development best practices and provide governance to ensure consistency and compliance across code reviews and a distributed developer model
  • Establish standards and process for code moves, release management and code restorations post clones
  • Perform a consulting role to understand and solve business problems in order to determine high level solution designs across App Engine, integrations, portals and various ServiceNow products
  • Provide oversight across development and delivery activities, addressing design issues to deliver quality solutions to our customers
  • Provide hands-on leadership to ensure deadlines and deliverables are met
  • Coordinate with team to ensure objectives for day-to-day tasks and projects are resourced appropriately
  • Be a point of escalation for technical staff, helping to remove obstacles and provide solutions when needed
  • Provide design, planning, implementation and development support across the ServiceNow platform
  • Ensure defined project governance standards are implemented and adhered to for each task
  • Ensure that all architectural artifacts and deliverables are developed to the highest quality standards
  • Provide subject matter expertise for ServiceNow and ITIL, recommending and designing solutions to be implemented on the ServiceNow platform, including instantiation of new modules as well as helping improve and streamline existing capabilities and applications.
  • Configure and enhance all aspects of ServiceNow, such as workflow, user interface (UI), client scripts, business rules, catalogs, orchestration and more, utilizing out-of-the-box functionality as much as possible and customization when necessary
  • Design and lead future configurations of ServiceNow CMDB
  • Design and lead future configurations of ServiceNow Discovery
  • System integration, such as web services, REST API's, SOAP, MID, etc.
  • Advise where out of the box functionality can achieve a desired outcome instead of resorting to customization as part of the demand management process
  • Develop Dashboards and reports
  • Partner with IT and business stakeholders to transform needs to tangible items within ServiceNow using platform modules or creating new scoped applications
  • Provide high-level estimations and guidance for breakdown of work into features, epics, and stories, including identifying the need for technical spikes
  • Create working demos and prototypes as necessary, prior to full deployment within the ServiceNow environment
  • Provide feedback to stakeholders with regards to alternative options and approaches that may not have been considered.
  • Identify upcoming platform release opportunities and stay current with the relevant areas of ServiceNow
  • Perform version upgrades of ServiceNow
  • Make technical recommendations for the Floor and Decor ServiceNow roadmap.
  • Partner with ServiceNow to identify solutions, raise issues, and provide input into the ServiceNow product roadmaps.
  • Establish documentation, testing, and coding standards for developers to adhere to.
  • Manage partners and consultants.
  • Create ServiceNow solutions and design web-based solutions. Identify system deficiencies and recommend solutions and continual service improvements. Design access controls to ensure an appropriate least privilege approach to solution design.
  • Improve performance and configuration by utilizing ServiceNow best practices
  • Collaborate effectively with other ServiceNow administrators to develop global solutions
  • Perform system and integration testing with sample and live data
  • Demonstrate best practices around programming methodologies, platform management, languages and help define team coding standards, procedures and techniques.
  • Review existing implementations and implementing improvements and provide support for design changes to provide value.
  • Assess security architecture to be consistent with standards and industry best practices.
  • Maintain knowledge of all new updates to the ServiceNow platform and demonstrate this knowledge by renewing ServiceNow certifications after major releases.

 Working Conditions (travel & environment)

  • Limited travel required including air and car travel.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to a warehouse environment and moving vehicles. The noise level in the work environment is typically quiet to moderate.

PHYSICAL/SENSORY    REQUIREMENTS

Sedentary Work – Ability to exert 10 - 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.  Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
