Job Description Summary

This

Turbine Structures Design Engineer role will enable the candidate to assume hardware design responsibilities for a GE Edison Works Advanced Military Engine New Product Initiative (NPI) Program.

In this role, the Lead Engineer will function as the primary "hardware owner" for turbine structures and work with other team member(s) to demonstrate that the design meets both external customer and internal GE design requirements, work with the product definition engineering (PDE) team to issue the model definition, and team with supply chain to procure the hardware in support of an upcoming engine test.

Job Description

Roles and ResponsibilitiesExecute the design of select Turbine Frames, Cases, Hangers, Manifolders, Plenums and other Structures hardware using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements.Apply knowledge of hardware mechanical design and create engineering design solutions through mentorship with mechanical design technical experts, heat transfer, mechanical stress analysts, life management and other supporting engineering functions.Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with low risks and resource requirements.Team with Manufacturing Programs and GE's supply chain to work with both internal and external vendors to ensure the hardware is produced on-time and with sufficient quality.Communicate the design status to the leadership team, including leaders both internal to GE and to the external DOD customer.

Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, from an accredited university or college.Minimum of 3 years' experience in design engineeringThis is a collateral role requiring a SECRET clearance. Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Security Clearance.

Desired CharacteristicsPast experience executing Mechanical Analysis in ANSYS, or the ability and desire to learn ANSYS.Attention to detail with a willingness to follow a rigorous quality process.Demonstrated ability to work within a small, collaborative project teamStrong analytical and strong problem solving skills - effectively evaluates information/data to make decisions; anticipates obstacles and develops plans to resolveInterest in being a self-starter with a focus on problem solving and constant improvement.Highly-motivated, passionate, with exceptional communication skills.The ability to work independently, yet the courage and inclusiveness to ask questions of others when help is needed or a problem arises.
