About the Role
Shearon Environmental Design Company is seeking an experienced and self-motivated head fleet Mechanic to join our team at our regional office in Plymouth Meeting, PA. Under the supervision of executive leadership, the Lead Fleet Mechanic will be responsible for maintaining and repairing equipment, managing inventory, and supporting fleet operations to ensure our landscape teams can operate at peak efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Team Training and Oversight
Train team members on safety protocols and proper equipment usage.
Oversee mechanics and fleet management systems to ensure seamless operations.
Collaborate with division leadership to schedule and prioritize repairs and maintenance activities.
Fleet Management
Maintain and repair a variety of company vehicles, including small trucks, SUVs, and stake-body trucks from Ford, GMC, and Ram (both gas and diesel).
Implement systems to collect and manage data relevant to fleet operations, including Verizon Fleet Management.
Ensure compliance with Shearon’s maintenance standards and safety guidelines.
Oversee purchasing, parts inventory, and vendor coordination to support efficient shop operations.
Support daily operations of 25 crews, managing a fleet of 30 trucks (model years 2015–2025) and 20 trailers.
What We Are Looking For
Experience & Expertise
5+ years of experience with large commercial equipment (diesel and gas), trucks, heavy equipment, and small engines.
Proficiency with fleet management systems and data oversight.
Skills & Qualifications
Strong knowledge of maintenance and repair processes for a variety of equipment.
Ability to train and lead team members in safety and equipment handling.
Valid driver’s license and adherence to Shearon’s employee handbook policies.
PA state inspection license preferred
Mechanics are expected to bring their own tools.
