Lead Fullstack Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Lead Full Stack Engineer to take a leading role in the development of a new Legislative Tracker platform, designed to monitor and analyze political and legislative developments in the UK. In this role, you will design and implement scalable, secure solutions while guiding key technical decisions and ensuring high-quality delivery.

In this role, you will work across the full stack, covering React frontends, Node.js services, and AWS-powered backends in close collaboration with client stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure high-quality delivery covering both functional and non-functional requirements (security, performance, scalability etc)


• Participate in technical discussions and own key technical decisions, ensuring solutions are aligned with best practices


• Design and implement end-to-end features across frontend and backend in a fast-paced environment


• Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders from the client side on a daily basis


• Refine requirements, manage dependencies, and contribute to backlog prioritization and planning


• Engage independently with stakeholders to translate business needs into working solutions


• Contribute to platform improvements and technical strategy


• Drive engineering quality by reviewing code, contributing to testing and CI/CD, etc.

Frontend:

• 5+ years of commercial experience working as Front-end developer (JavaScript, TypeScript)


• Experience developing web applications using React


• Experience with NextJS, Styled Components, Jest, React Testing Library (Playwright/Cypress a plus)


• Experience with the App Router (Form Submission experience in the app router (Everything is forms))

Backend:

• 5+ years of commercial experience working as Node.js developer


• Expertise in working with MariaDB/MySQL, Dynamo DB, ElasticSearch, GraphQL


• Knowledge of AWS (Lambda) and microservices architecture, Typescript, MSSQL

General:

• Upper-intermediate+ English level


• Contribute high-quality code to the Political Intelligence platform and guide others through technical reviews


• Create technical design and define a general approach to build from scratch a Legislative Tracker platform following UK politics


• Hands-on involvement in CI/CD, quality assurance, testing activities, etc


• Comfortable working independently and engaging directly with stakeholders to clarify requirements
