Role Overview:

We are seeking a Lead Hardware Architect Engineer to spearhead the advancement of our portfolio of battery-electric rail vehicles. This role is pivotal in advancing our electrical controllers, battery systems, electric motor and power drivetrains, thermal management, and pneumatic designs, and the seamless hardware/functional integration of these systems to achieve increasing capacities. You will lead multi-disciplinary efforts involving hardware systems design, development, and integration, driving innovation from concept through to deployment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead System Development: Collaborate with stakeholders to define and document complex electrical and mechanical system requirements
  • Design & Architecture: Oversee the translation of requirements and system architectures into hardware and functional designs and interface specifications
  • Testing & Validation: Direct efforts to test and validate systems to ensure they meet both operational and functional requirements
  • Lifecycle Support: Address and resolve issues related to fielded systems, providing comprehensive support throughout the product lifecycle
  • Innovation & Research: Stay abreast of technological advancements and recommend potential applications and technology investments to enhance our solutions

Team Dynamics:

  • Work within and across dynamic teams of 3-10 members on diverse projects
  • Foster excellent interpersonal and communication skills to thrive in a collaborative environment
  • Adapt to evolving project objectives and requirements introduced through prioritized capability enhancements and custom applications
  • Engage in occasional domestic or international travel for integration, demonstrations, and customer interactions

About You:

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Mathematics, or Science
  • 4+ years of experience with hardware design of various systems or disciplines - such as controllers, electrical systems, mechanical design, structural analyses, pneumatics, thermal management, motor control and drivetrains
  • Willingness to expand into technical areas beyond your area of expertise; ability to develop innovative and novel approaches
  • Open-minded and comfortable working in a teaming environment, as an individual contributor, and as a leader
  • Fluent in both written and verbal English
  • U.S. Person (immigration or work visa sponsorship will not be provided)

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience in directly applicable industry or projects, such as Rail, Electric Vehicles, or Unmanned Systems
  • Experience with design or integration of diverse hardware systems across numerous disciplines
  • 9 or more years' related work experience
  • Demonstrated experience working across organizational boundaries


Relocation:

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility. Full time, based in St. Louis, MO.
