 Join our team as a Lead Housekeeping Attendant, creating a clean, comfortable, and caring environment for our valued residents in a vibrant retirement community.

Starting at $18.54 an hour/ based on years of experience
 
Available Schedule (subject to change): 
Full Time / Monday - Friday / 7:30am-4:00pm

Position Summary: 

Under the direct supervision of the Environmental Services Manager and Supervisor, is responsible for a wide range of duties, such as training attendants, serving alongside staff, and the daily operations of the housekeeping services to ensure offices, homes and other specified areas are kept in a clean condition to ensure compliance with state health and safety regulations.  

Brief Overview of Major Duties (please see below for full job description):

  • Cleans garden and assisted living homes, apartments, rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, and other work areas so that health standards are met.
  • Empties wastebaskets and transports other trash and infectious waste to designated disposal areas.
  • Sweeps, scrubs, and polishes floors using brooms and mops.
  • Dusts and polishes furniture and equipment.
  • Keeps storage areas and carts well stocked, clean, and organized.
  • Replenishes supplies such as toilet tissue, paper towels, and hand cleaners/soap.
  • Sorts clothing and other articles, loads washing machines, and irons and folds dried items.
  • Washes windows, walls, ceilings, and woodwork, waxing and polishing as needed.
  • Daily scheduling of work assignments for staff, ensuring compliance with set guidelines. Work with EVS Coordinator. 
  • Ensure cleaning responsibilities are met to include all areas from ceiling to floor.
  • Ensure that resident cleaning schedules are completed by the Attendants on time. 
  • Inspects the cleanliness of residents homes, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, and other work areas so that health standards are met on a daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly basis. 
  • Documents inspection form to hold Attendants accountable and uses these as recognition or re-training tools
  • Train and instructs all Attendants on cleaning processes, chemical use, safety precautions. Advise Attendants on how to keep carts clean, supplies stocked and supply closets clean and tidy at all times.
  • Reports damage, equipment issues or areas that need further attention to the appropriate department via Worxhub software system.
  • Report staff concerns and supply order requests to Manager and Supervisor as needed. 
  • Responsible for distribution of housekeeping supplies and equipment. Orders and stocks various supplies for the Attendants as needed.
  • Assists the Manger or Supervisor in inventory management
  • Observes precautions required to protect the residents’ property, and reports damage, theft, and found articles to supervisor.
  • Monitor and respond to incoming radio calls and dispatch Attendants when necessary. 
  • May need to operate/drive a golf cart for the purpose of transporting supplies around campus as needed. This may also include transporting employees when needed. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Required Skills/Abilities:

Has knowledge of custodial, housekeeping, laundry operations, and floor care.

Has ability to read, understand, follow and enforce safety procedures.

Is organized, able to multi-task, think creatively and adapt to different situations.

Preferably has knowledge on using iPad. Training will be provided.

Must be able to complete training on computer and/or other devices.

Maintain competency in the position and knowledge of trade/industry advances and new technologies.

Must be able to effectively communicate in English with all levels of staff, residents, and guests. 

Education and Experience:

Preferably has a high school diploma or GED equivalent.

Must have lead custodial or housekeeping experience.

Licenses and Certifications:

Has current and valid Fingerprint clearance card or can apply for one within 20 days of hire.

If the above driving duties apply, has current, valid driver’s license. Driving record must meet the criteria set forth by Royal Oaks’ insurance carrier. 

Physical Requirements:

Is able to carry/lift/push/pull up to 25 pounds. 

May need to operate a fire extinguisher.

Is able to assist in evacuation procedures.

Maintains the comfort, privacy, confidentiality and dignity of each resident in the delivery of services. Interacts with residents in a manner that displays warmth and promotes a caring environment. 

Maintains confidentiality for residents to meet HIPAA guidelines. 

Ensures organizational and departmental policies, procedures, and guidelines, as well as federal, state, and local regulations are met and followed.

Assists in maintaining a safe, neat, and clean environment. Reports all deficiencies to the appropriate person, such as equipment problems, need for repair or special needs of residents.

Performs all job responsibilities in accordance with prescribed safety and infection control procedures without causing harm or risk to self, others or property.

Has ability to read, understand, follow and enforce safety procedures.

Attends and participates in training activities, meetings, and seminars as required. 

Exhibits qualities of a team player, interacts courteously and appropriately, maintains a positive attitude. Addresses problems and conflicts in a professional and respectful manner.
