Why This Role Matters

We are seeking a dynamic, high-profile Lead Analyst/Reporter with deep expertise in a critical area such as Climate, Health, National Security, Technology/AI, or the Future of Work with WP Intelligence from The Washington Post. This individual will be responsible for shaping and delivering insightful analysis to C-Suite executives, thought leaders and policy influencers via roundtable discussions, written briefs, and comprehensive reports. As an industry thought leader, the Lead Analyst/Reporter will guide conversations and inform decision-making at the highest levels, while contributing to overall product strategy. You’ll be the authoritative voice in your domain, helping to shape the future of business and policymaking at the executive level. Your insights will not only inform but also help decision-makers across industries, contributing to a better-informed, forward-looking corporate landscape.

How You'll Support the Mission

  • Thought Leadership: Serve as the lead subject-matter expert, providing high-level analysis on emerging trends within your specialty area.

  • Executive Communication: Regularly meet with C-Suite executives, thought leaders, policy influencers who subscribe to WP Intelligence and who join in exclusive WP Intelligence councils and roundtables, facilitating discussions and offering actionable recommendations.

  • Content Creation: Produce one comprehensive, research-backed written analysis or report each week, addressing critical developments and insights in your area of expertise. Occasionally produce quick turn analysis on major events in your subject areas.

  • Media Engagement: Act as the face of the company in media outlets and at industry events, presenting your analysis and findings to broader audiences.

  • Briefings & Presentations: Attend industry briefings and events to stay on top of the latest developments, providing your expert take to both internal and external stakeholders.

  • Product Strategy: Contribute to the development and execution of product and service strategies that leverage your expertise to deliver value.

  • Collaboration & Leadership: Work closely with a team of research staff and junior analysts to produce top-tier content and ensure the success of your product line.

Skills and Experience you Bring

  • 10+ years of media or publishing experience in a relevant field (Climate, Health, National Security, Tech/AI, or Future of Work), with significant reporting or editing accomplishments and recognition within the industry.

  • Influence: Proven ability to operate as a public-facing thought leader, comfortable in media environments, and adept at understanding executive and government decision-making.

  • Analytical Skills: Strong ability to interpret complex data and trends, translating them into clear, strategic insights.

  • Communication: Exceptional writing and presentation skills, with experience engaging with C-level audiences and participating in high-profile industry forums.

  • Strategic Mindset: Ability to connect your analysis with broader market, policy, and organizational strategies, contributing to business success.

  • Leadership: Experience managing or collaborating with research teams to produce high-quality, timely analysis.

Collaboration makes us stronger. That’s why our offices are designed with open layouts, modern technology, and easy access to transportation. With certain exceptions for newsgathering and business travel, we work on-site five days a week.
