Description

This position is an essential part of Sherwin’s manufacturing team. This position is responsible for assisting the Maintenance and/or Engineering Manager or Supervisor while contributing to the proper maintenance of equipment, machinery, and facility as a maintenance technician. This position performs various maintenance tasks as assigned and is responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and productive working environment.


 


Responsibilities
  • Support shift set-up including scheduling, and maintenance planning  
  • Monitor and report on productivity, and other relevant shift activity 
  • Contribute ideas to improve or optimize maintenance procedures 
  • Abide by and promote all company safety and quality expectations 
  • Perform preventive maintenance inspections and service on equipment 
  • Repair broken machines and equipment quickly and efficiently  
  • Identify causes of unexpected breakdowns of machines 
  • Order and install replacement parts for machines 
  • Maintain and service building equipment including HVAC, lighting, water and sewer, etc. 
  • Maintain documentation as required 
  • Clean, organize, inventory, stock, and otherwise maintain shop areas, parts, tools, and supplies 
  • Maintain technical knowledge through training 
  • Lead Maintenance Personnel
  • Train and develop maintenance mechanics
  • Emergency call-in as required


Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship for employment work visa status now or in the future
  • Must have at least five (5) years of work experience as a mechanic in a manufacturing and/or distribution environment 
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Have at least one (1) year of experience in leadership role(s), supervising others, or leading teams
  • Have completed formal training in and/or have at least one (1) year of work experience applying continuous improvement tools such as Six Sigma, 5-S, Lean Manufacturing, Transactional Lean, etc.
  • Have a basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic theory
  • Have knowledge of Programmable Logic Controls (PLC) programming
  • Have an industrial, electrical, or welding certification or license
